Any suggestions for exercises?
Ok so it's kinda a tough one, we usually take Max to the woods Saturday and Sundays and he gets to have a run around and play with his ball there for a few hours, and I take him for walks everyday during the week and they usually last an hour and can be more than once or twice a day, but because he has to be muzzled and on the lead at all times I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions on how he can have fun?
I know in the previous post I posted the trainer said to go to a "remote field" and play ball with him ( Max LOVES his balls ) but unfortunately the field that's here isn't so remote. Max has a lot of energy and I mean a lot, but I feel letting him run around just once or twice a week isn't enough, he gets bored indoors, he does have plenty of toys and we always interact with him, but to be honest I feel bad for him because before and after his walks he still has loads of energy and always wants to do something, but he's at the stage where he just lays there, or constantly just wonders around, and gets excited everytime I get off the sofa as I think he thinks I'm going to take him out, he doesn't at all really chill out ( but I guess the illness doesn't help I suppose )
And our garden isn't big enough for him to run around...
Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Re: Any suggestions for exercises?
Have you tried mental stimulation such as short training sessions and hiding treats for him to find around the house?

I was gonna say hide and seek too. I do it with Logan, it's great fun and is so enjoyable to watch him search and find. Start easy, like in full view then work it more difficult as he progresses. Logan has worked up to finding behind objects and under blankets so far.

We use old egg boxes and cereal cartons to hide treats in for Rocky to find. You could also use an old jumper to wrap up a toy in.
Have you tried looking for another field anywhere near to you that you could let him have a good run in. Do you use a long training lead ?

Re: Any suggestions for exercises?
That sounds like a really good idea ill definitely try that!
There are loads of fields surrounding us but you're not allowed on them,
No I don't use a training lead, I'd have to find a massively long one as we use the thrower thing to throw balls and he brings them back, his re call is spot on and doesn't go out of his way to run to other dogs or people and if I see he wants to I call him and he instantly returns to me, but he's never off the lead with dogs about, but to be honest nowadays he's always on the lead now when I take him out as some people here really don't like him
Only time he's off the lead now is at the woods here witch is massive and always usually empty,
I think I'll try some hide and seek this afternoon

Imagine a heavy duty cats toy of a fake mouse on string
I have kids garden tunnels, we don't have a garden so she has the run of half my lounge with her toys, but they also store very neatly. We do indoors agility

Re: Any suggestions for exercises?
We have rainy day in house activities (Rolo's a wuss, he hates the rain!) On those days we play the hide and seek game and do lots of basic training, recalls' up the hallway with all different types of finishes, including him running through my legs and dropping straight in to a sit on my left. Stays with various distractions, silly little dancing to music moves. My latest attempt is to teach him to help me around the house So far he's learnt to help me take clothes out of the dryer and we're working on him taking paired socks to my daughters room, it's all fun and rewarded and he's nosey but keeps his brain active

Oh max HATES the rain! It's hassle just for him to go toilet during rain lol!
Giving me loads of ideas guys, thanks!
