Any suggestions.
This stagbar arrived yesterday,24 cm long,it's now this size and no longer safe for my 14 month old bitch. It took a couple of sessions yesterday to be destroyed.I thought these were supposed to last,or is that just for normal dogs
She normally has Nyla-bones which last a few weeks before surrendering but I thought I'd try something natural.Any ideas? She's had rawhide chews,a few minutes life.Bull pizzles, similar lifespan, pigs and cows ears barely last a few minutes either.
Anyone found anything natural that will put up some kind of resistance? i don't want to try knuckle bones for obvious reasons.

Re: Any suggestions.
My previous foster made light work of stag bars, but they last my girl a while! She's not overly interested in them though to be fair. I won't feed rawhide, it can be very dangerous, getting stuck in the throat or swelling in the tummy. Plus the ridiculous amount of chemicals that they use on them wouldn't do anybody any good!
I use frozen kongs and large raw knuckle bones for chewing. Why are you concerned about feeding knuckle bones? Cooked they're dangerous but raw they're great for chewing, monitored of course. My girl will chew on one for hours, though there can be tummy troubles from too much bone. Knuckle bones constipated my girl, but the marrow from marrow bones can send her a little more the other way!

Pets at Home do Bull horns at the moment - mine loved them. They're with the Stag bars. They are about the same toughness as the Stag bars though!

Rocky has stag bars and will usually chew them down until shorter than the one you show above, they usually go down, with rocky chewing them, to about 4 cm long.

From what I've read knuckle bones,or in fact any weight bearing bones from large ungulates should never be given due to their density.
They may be ok for the gentle chewer to play with but a determined strong chewer risks serious damage to their teeth.
I may be wrong, and often am.but if you've used them successfully I may well try her with one.

Re: Any suggestions.
In regards to the pigs, cow ears - have you tried fresh or different brands (usually the more expensive ones)? I know with Marquez, with fresh pig ears (they start off pink and soft but over time dry out and lose the stinky smell) last for at least 3 weeks to 1 month. With the ones I've brought from the pet store already dried and treated, the more expensive ones last a lot longer than some of the cheaper ones I've brought which he could demolish in less than a day.

I've heard this too although Bacchus gets the odd lamb leg bone. He's been on BARF for 9 months now and gets raw chicken carcasses/lamb spines/ lamb necks twice a week as a meal replacement.

Re: Any suggestions.
I used to give Bosie stag bars as a pup but now like you say, they don't last long. Also I noticed he got a couple of infected spots on his lips when he chewed them, I think they can harbour bacteria. I give him nylabones now (I can hear him chewing on one downstairs) but even those don't last longer than a week before both ends have gone.
His most indestructible toy so far is the bizarrely named PetSafe Busy Buddy Chuckle that he's had for two weeks now and it barely has a mark on it. You can fill it with treats like a kong but mine likes chewing on it even when its empty. Every time I sit down he brings it to me and thrusts it at me, growling. He's very demanding.

Bosie looks a dream - demanding indeed ! Have just ordered a Buddy Chuckle to try. Mine get bored with stag bars before they're worn out.

Oh wow! When Banes get that small, we drill a hole in it and then put some rope through and it becomes a "I'll hold, you chew" toy.
I've heard Bull horns are tougher?
