Advice Needed
Hi Guys,
Im hoping some of you can offer a bit of guidance!
I rescued a beautiful male Staffy (Harley) a year ago who turned two this month. He's a very loving character and has an extreamely soft nature, everyone comments on his temperament (and good looks).
Ive now been given the chance rehome another male staffy, 8 months old but after doing some research everywhere seems to state its not good idea putting two male staffys together (I looked into this a while ago when thinking of rescuing an older dog). Does anyone have any experience or recommendations as I would love nothing more than to offer another unwanted Staffy a loving home BUT im so torn!! Im hoping as the other dog is still quite young introducing him into our home would maybe be easier than an older dog??
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Sarah

Re: Advice Needed
I know people who have two males which they havent had from the beginning together and they are fine i think it just depends on the dog is there no way of introducing them to see if they get on?

I wouldn't know, only have the 1 and its a girl. I guess as youngkaiser said, can you introduce the dog beforehand, walk them etc see how they get on?

Re: Advice Needed
Thanks for the replies.
Im thinking of taking Harley to meet the dog on Saturday but I just dont feel you'll get a proper judgement from a short meeting. Harley just loves to play so I know he'll be fine initially. Im just a bit worried he may feel a bit put put if we bring another dog into his home.
Its my dads mate thats looking for a home and if I take the dog I dont feel I'd be able to give it back to him if they didnt get on as he hasnt the time to look after it, hence whey he wants to rehome.
A big part of me says do it & see what happens but I just wanted to get others opinions.

Re: Advice Needed
I would be inclined to be like you, just go for it, but I haven't any experience with 2 dogs together at all, and would also worry about it not working out. Are you able to be with them all the time, initially anyway?

Re: Advice Needed
have you thought about going to a rescue centre because their dogs get tested. my mate had 2 males and he left them alone for a morning and when he got back he had 2 half dead dogs i'm not saying this will happen with your dog but it could.
Re: Advice Needed
Thats my biggest worry to be honest, I'll come home one day to just that!
I looked at rescuing one not that long ago but went through the exact same emotions, should I...... shouldnt I. Is it a good idea etc. I done a lot of research & decided against it at the time. Ive now obviously revisited the idea with my dad telling my about his mate.
I think my minds made up now, thanks guys. Its been great help. I think you put all the negatives out your mind when you really want something & dont think about the practicalities.
Thanks again

Re: Advice Needed
Iwould advise not to put 2 males together it really isnt worth risking it you have to think of the dog you have he seems like a well behaved well balanced dog taking another in especially (dog) may turn his life upside down.
