Advice needed please
Hi, I'm just wanting a bit of advice. Bronson has just come to sit with us on the setee and we noticed a bit of a fishy smell from his back end.. I've read it could be his anal glands... I'm going to book him in to the vets tomorrow but just wanted to know if anyone has had this problem before
Thanks
Natalie (Bronsons mummy)

Re: Advice needed please
It could be his anal glands - when they become blocked, the smell is atrocious! It gets worse if you decide to milk them yourself.
If it is blocked glands, the vet will be able to express them very easily, so no need to worry!

Yep! Get the vet to do it - at least he gets paid to be covered in foul (and I mean foul) smelling gunk out of a dog's backside!

Oh, it'll be the nastiest thing you'll ever smell! I've expressed them before and I can honestly say it's one of the worst smells ever!Nats81 wrote:Thankyou. Re: Advice needed please
It's not very difficult to do, but it's messy and smelly, so good choice!

Re: Advice needed please
Just a hint if the smells occur as a result of a "back-fire" - strike a match in the area (lighters don't work for some reason) and the smell will, if not disappear immediately, become more acceptable to human noses.
