Loki bitten Empty Loki bitten

Post by Drucil Fri Feb 08 2013, 19:00

I am soo annoyed my daughter took Loki out for his walk this afternoon and he was bitten by a Westy, she went on our normal walk then took a detour to the shop where this Westy that was tied up outside lunged at him, she pulled Loki back but this dog had another go and as there were two people there and she couldnt get past them he got Loki who then tried to run away yelping with his bum underneath him, he is only 6mths old and such a friendly chap I really hope this doesnt spoil him, my daughter was so distraught when she came back that she didnt confront the owners and that she didnt protect Loki. Hopefully he is ok, he had a shower when he came back and is now cuddled up in my fleecey snuggle blanket zonked out.

Some people can be very irresponsible at times by leaving a dog tied up outside a shop, anything could happen and they wouldn't have a clue.

I doubt this would have any lasting effect on Loki and I'm sure he will be fine meeting other dogs while out on his walks in the future.

Young enough to hopefully get over a nip.
Personally I won't let any of my kids take the dogs out, if something happened I'd be kicking myself I wasn't there to avoid or stop it,
I take it Loki wasn't hurt ? Any drawn blood ?

Next time he is out on a walk try to make sure neither of you react in any way to a dog, he will follow your lead and if you are not worried he won't be as worried.

Just stay calm on walks, don't get nervous about it happening again, and he should stay calm too, and as has been said, walking him with calm, friendly dogs will help. He's young, he'll probably get over it Smile Loki's had a few dogs try to attack him and he's gotten over it, still plays with one of them.

Hope you your daughter and Loki will make a fast recovery, this is traumatic for the dog and the owner to witness, it happened to our lovely girl we lost very tragically last January, she was 9 months old and a big Dobi jumped at her bless her, anyway take care I am sorry this has happened but not all doggie people are responsible, tummy tickles from me and my 3 crazy fur babies for Loki Smile

How sad for poor Loki and your daughter, I can understand how she feels.

Hope it will all be forgotten by your boy tomorrow and he is ok.

Mia was bitten by a Golden Retriever when she was about nine months old. I'd let her out into the paddock at work to go to the toilet while I went to get my coat but hadn't spotted a neighbour's dog was nearby. I heard a squeal and a yelp and Mia came sprinting back towards me.

It had taken a little chunk of fur from her face:

A couple of days later we were out walking and I saw a Retriever so wondered if she'd be scared of it...

She wasn't - far from it. As soon as she spotted it she was desperate to go and have a play Big Grin

So Loki should be fine. They're tough little buggers.

Logan was biten very hard by a Alsatian off the lead owned by a real hard lad. It really hurt him, he walked the rest of the way home with his neck all twisted and had a small cut on his ear where he grabbed him. He is perfectly fine with all dogs except alsatians now (and some huskys). I had words with the owner and he wasn't too hard after it.

I'd agree about socialising a lot still. As he is very young he will get past it Smile

i brought lexii to the dog park so we could get her used to other dogs the lad who is supossed to be in charge had his big husky there and didnt see anything wrong with his dog picking on other dogs twice he tryed to pick lexii up by the head and kept nipping at her all the while his owner just looked on as if it where ok the third atempt to shove her head into his mouth didnt go well when he got a boot in it instead i didnt want to do it but the owner did nothing to stop his dog so i did after that he stayed away but lexii got a terrible fright and just wanted to go so the next day i took her back while the * and his dog werent there and she had a great time playing with lots of other dogs. Its like falling of your horse you have to get stright back on other wise that bad memory lingers
