Well it's been around 3 days now since Dragon has been ''crying'' when you touch his neck and we've touched it to see if he had anything there or if he has a scar or whatever, it looks like he has nothing on there and it doesn't feel any different.

He doesn't ''cry'' all the time he does it every so now and often... I touched it once and he ''cried'' (I call it crying but it's like a yelp like he's in pain), anyway it scared me as he never did that before so I jumped back and went to see if he was hurt, so i kept touching it and rubbing it and he was fine, the day after he did it again twice, then today he's been doing it as well and I don't know if it's like a little bruise (he's really ''dumb'' sometimes and hurts himself by doing weird things like walking into things etc) anyway I let him out in the back garden every hour or so so he can wee and whatnot and I think he might of banged himself against something or maybe even tried to chew something and something is stuck on his throat? But if there was something stuck it would hurt him while eating? But he eats just fine like normally? I don't know if I should take him to the vets or if I'm worrying to much and it might be nothing? I don't know I'd rather see what you guys have to say before I go ahead and take him to the vets?

Also I've been thinking this is probably stupid but then again I don't know that much about dogs as this is my first dog, I heard staffy's start getting a bigger head when they're about 2-4? Some people say their heads split which I know it's probably a mite but yea, I was thinking maybe he's head is getting bigger since he's 2 and maybe it's hurting him? Like I said this is probably stupid but yea I don't know how he hurt himself as I'm always always with him apart from when he goes for a wee because it's way to cold for me to go outside and watch him Laughing plus if we go outside he thinks it's to play and doesn't wee Laughing

It's nothing to do with his head getting bigger, so I'd put that out of your head.

He might have leapt badly & twisted himself, or he may have banged himself. If he's otherwise ok, I'd scale down his exercise for a couple of days & see if it improves. If it doesn't then a trip to the vet might be needed for some anti inflammatories.

If he has obvious neck pain, there is only one action to take - take him to the vet.

Before you start worrying, the probability of it being anything serious is very low, but staffies crying with neck pain indicates some considerable discomfort.

He hasn't been walked for 3 days now, all we do is tug of war, maybe I should stop that for a while as it does a lot of exercise to his neck?
I'll give him a few days to see if he gets better, I do hope he does, scares me when he cries like that, I get ''scared'' of touching his neck because the poor little guy is probably in pain Sad He doesn't cry often though it's just every so often, for example if I touched it now he'd probably cry but if right after I touched it he wouldn't. It's weird :/

personally if he's been like that for 3 days now I would go to the Vet just to be sure . Staffs are little tough nuts so to cry in pain must be a reasonable amount of pain

If by friday-saturday he doesn't get better I sure will take him to the vets, he's so clumsy it's unreal, he walks into things quite often and falls of things and what not, I just hope it's nothing to serious. Sad

I have read somewhere that you need to be careful when playing tug with dogs as the jerking forces can be very high and therefore dangerous, even though they love to play tug.
If you have a look at the Kong Tug toy here Tug Kong
You can see that they have an inbuilt shock absorbing rubber section in the middle which helps to reduce the jarring on the neck. Storm loves this toy and will drop anything for it. It is one of those toys that you can't leave them with to chew on though.
Hope he's better soon.

My boy is very very fussy with everything specially toys, getting him to start playing tug of war was very hard took me 2 weeks or so now he loves it but only with certain toys.

Joe, if I were you I'd take Dragon to the vet for a check-up and not wait. The neck pain with the crying to start with, but please mention his "clumsiness".

I don't want to scare you, but he may, just may have an eyesight problem if he keeps walking into things, as you say.

It's better to know, one way or the other, than keep worrying isn't it.

Do let us know how you get on, - keeping all fingers and paws crossed for you.

Yes I've thought about that because he's always banging into things, he's not blind that's for sure but he might just not see things as good, I've been wanting to get him to the vets for a check up for a while now, but now that he's neck is ''bad'' I will for sure take him for a check up and see what is wrong with him, it might not be nothing but it's always better to know than not know if there's anything wrong..

Possibly just hurt himself clowning about as they do. Maybe just pop into the vets. Even if it is something silly they'll be glad to have a look for you Smile
