Re: half raw
Yes thats fine, better to feed raw first thing because it takes longer to digest

Re: half raw
i've been told that between a raw meal and kibble must be about 8 hours time, due to digestion

Raw meat only takes about 4-5 hours to digest, so a raw meal in the morning should be ok.
I'd be more concerned with the fact that you're only feeding 3 meals a day! At 9 weeks it should ideally be 4 meals.

Re: half raw
I've considered this, as I'm always thinking of ways to keep Max on food that works for his activity level, and that he like's .... and I know bugger all about raw really
Sayin that, I gave him the raw off-cuts of 6 large, free range fresh chicken breasts a couple weeks ago, and he LOVED it !!
He's doing pretty well on what he's on at the mo, but will the odd peice of raw meat give him the sh!ts now and then out of interest ?

Re: half raw
raw is great, i feed my dog 75% raw 25% veg, when i told the breeder (when checking out staffies) he said i should be feeding them 30% raw. I felt whats the difference of 5% .....maybe controlling the situation and conversation, who knows some people put brown rice i occasionally put qunioa if shes had alot of excercise. Also ground chicken backs are good because they need the calcium and raw bones to chew! So glad ur feeding raw, it makes a huge difference.

The differance between breeder saying 30% raw, and you feeding 75% raw is 35% ... not 5% !!

Re: half raw
I don't know if you can get it in the UK but it's cheap as here (for obvious reasons LOL) but we give Vlad roo mince of a morning. It's really lean, hardly any fat and hasn't affected his belly at all! He loves it. He has eggs and dry food at night. I've taken to cooking some extra veges of a night to give him with his morning meal too.

Re: half raw
I'm glad I saw this. Charlie loves Marrow bones, ox heart, ox tails etc, but my freezer isn't big enough to feed him just on raw and he likes Dr Johns Silver dry. I was considering feeding dry in the morning, raw in the evening, but now I see it's best to feed raw in the morning and dry in the evening.

come on give me a break! the breeder said to give 30% not 25% veg hmm 30-25= 5% difference. my point is the breeder is anal. (can i even write that on this forum? dont kick me out) but seems to me he's not the only one that is anal. i will die if he's on this forum!

Re: half raw
Why give veg at all?
Plus if you do you don't need to be so anal about it, all it is, is filler anyway!

Re: half raw
i think veg is good for digestion according to my research, its cats that eat just protein. fillers are corn, rice, potatoes. theres still alot of good things in veg for them.

Veg, if pulped or cooked, can have a beneficial effect for dogs. But they don't need it if they are fed a proper raw diet.
I actually give Dempsey a veg supplement, but that's because, due to a stomach operation he had last year, he can't always pass everything through his intestines & gets a build up of toxins. The veg supplement forms a 'bulk' that helps puch all the fecal matter (posh!) through the intestines which in turn avoids a build up in his blood.
Before the operation he was on a raw diet (no veg at all) and was perfectly healthy.
Have a look at these sites, which will help to explain the myths surrounding feeding veg to dogs...

My two will not eat any veg at all in any form, to me dogs are carnivores and there has not been any evidence of the benefit of veg for dogs, so yes to me they are fillers and nothing else
