Doggy dilema.
Hi guys.
It's not about a staffy but it's very important for me. Some of you know that I'm from Poland. When ( 8 years ago ) I moved here I left my lovely dog with my parents. She was their best friend since. When she died they took rescue dog, male about 5-7years old ,with big heart but bigger issue with men. He just hates them. He only tolerates my dad and my OH ( we spend some time at summer holiday there). When my mum died last year, the dog took it very hard,he was really close to my mum. Since December 2012 my dad started to have heath problems,he was in hospital for over 2 weeks, then out for Christmas and back for 2 weeks. At that time the poor dog was move from my auntie to my dad's friend. They both said they don't want to look after him any more because he bite my uncle and firend's son. My dad's condition requires checking in to the hospital every 2 weeks. He's really worried about the dog. It hasn't have great live and now that. I said he should give him back to the rescue ( not a perfect solution),my Oh said to pts . There is no one who could look after his. It makes me so sad. He went throw so much in his live,it makes me cry. What do you think?

Re: Doggy dilema.
I think this is a very sad story and one that has arisen through no fault of anyone - you have all been through so much.
Your dad's dog is obviously upset and confused as of neccessity he has been moved around so much recently.
If your dad is likely to need continuing hospital care, then hard as it is this dog would be better off for himself to get a new home if that is at all possible.
I do hope that you all find as happy an outcome for this situation as possible.
I feel for you all - you Jola, your dad, and your dad's dog and hope that you can find a solution.
I can only say that, if it was me in your situation Jola, (and if your dad will need to go into hospital regularly) then I would try to find the dog another home.
I wish you ALL the very best outcome ><

I'm just worried that with the dog's backround we won't be able to find forever home. We are planing to go back to Poland later this year, then I could take him. But just don't know how he is with an other dog in the house. Him and Debo get on well at the summer but it was in open space.

Re: Doggy dilema.
It's a difficult situation, I can understand that Jola.
As Debo has gone to Poland and it seems like your Dad's dog can come back to England, I'm guessing they both have their rabies jabs and/or pets passports and are both free to come back to England?
If so, and he and Debo have gotten on well together, then it may be a solution that they both live together in England , if you and your OH (and your Dad) are happy with this. In which case, there may well be some settling-in issues between Debo and your Dad's dog, as well as with your OH if your Dad's dog is wary of men, but these could be overcome with time and patience.
If this is not possible, then you will know better than I how possible it is to rehome an anti-man dog in Poland.
I can't offer you any advice other than this, I only wish I could. It is such a difficult situation for you as your Dad is fond of the dog, and it seems that you are too.
But, if your Dad can't keep him anymore, then an answer has to be found and I wish you all the luck in the world to find the best one for all of you.

Janey, haven't live there for 8 years but from what I can see and hear some of them are good. The one my dad took that dog is a private one. And Lynda we are going back for good so there won't put any more stress on that poor dog. Just don't know how he is with other male dogs in the house. He's very protective. I think my dad will have to ask around. Thanks for the support.

Re: Doggy dilema.
If you could get the dog into a foster home for the time being this may be helpful until you can get back there to take on the dog full time. Do they have dog foster homes in Poland ??
