Dilema
Hi all. Straight to problem. I work as a nanny and my employers allowed me to bring Debo with me. I don't he likes anymore. They have a labradoodle and they into pack leader staff. Their dog wasn't allowed in the house untill it was 1yr,she slept and played in the kennel. So the same rules applies to Debo. But he cant relax there, he would lay down on the bench making little sad noice. They saying he'll adapt. Will he? Or is it just anoying for him to be the only one not in the house. Where in my place he's a familly member. They also are a bit afraid of him. Don't care what they think, want the best for Debo.

Re: Dilema
Is there anyway you could leave your dog at your home while you are at work rather than have Debo go through it all?

Re: Dilema
It's a shame, because I bet he liked it there, I know Dempsey likes coming to work with me.
Some people just have no idea.

Re: Dilema
I know he wouldn't do any demage in the house. But that's how they trained theire dog. No upstairs,no on the sofa ,no in the kitchen etc. I'm not saying is all bad,but I think they're missing out with all the pack leader. But they can't even get close to their dog while she's eating.

Re: Dilema
Oh I really think they are missing out! Pack leader sounds good on paper, of course we want our pets to do as they are told to avoid harm to us, them or our homes but come on pack leaders don't get cuddles!!

Re: Dilema
I'd leave him home. He will probably be a better dog for not going to that environment. Confused dogs are not something to aspire towards. Feel bad for their dog...

Re: Dilema
I don't let Loki upstairs or on the furniture, but that's mostly because there's no reason for it...plus I've seen him have a sneaky chew on the couch, so no way lol. But yeah, to not even let the dog inside is too much if it goes against your training methods, so I reckon it'd be better for him, and less confusing, for him to just stay at home where he knows what he can and can't do and won't have to adjust to two different sets of rules.

Re: Dilema
I think you right guys. It's shame really, because he likes the kids,he listen to them more and more. And the other dog is good to have around,I think it's the only dog that Debo doesn't play rough with,no jumping. They all have lovely afternoon playing together in the garden, the kids know few polish commands now . Even dad joyed in.. Ye,but soon is going to get colder ,the kids won't play outside,so poor Debo would have be left alone. I did have a little chat with dad about Debo feeling left out. He still says that the are rules ( I do understand that ) that Debo has to learn before they accept him in the house. I do think I can put him through that. No he's sound a sleep on my sofa.I think he slep maybe for an hour today.

Re: Dilema
We tend too follow the pack leader stuff, but no way ever we would do that. And i have never heard of that making the dog stay outside either. My babies go on the sofa sleep on our bed but know we are the bosses. Making them stay outside is ridiculous.
Unforantly i spose its their house their rules, id leave him at home where he can lay on your sofa x

Re: Dilema
That's my plan! That's what I think, you don't have ban your dog from doing staff like sofa, bed ect ,for them to know that you are the boss. My employers are great example- they not allow her do those things but they can't touch her while she's eating.

Re: Dilema
Same with Debo. We even put our rat on his bone and he knows he's can't touch her-she's older . They saying that their dog was always like that,oh well won't change them.

Re: Dilema
My 2 don't give up things willingly but there is no aggression involved and one of the kids could still try and take a bone or anything away from our 2 , it's just the bit where they have to open their mouth and let go that we struggle with
