Info on new dog!
Hi all, im newish on here, and must say its fab!! I already have a 4 month old bitch, called lexi, and today i bought a 2 month old dog. Ive introduced them, but only while Bane (The new pup) was in his crate. She had a sniff and wagged her tail, but then started to bark at Bane. Shes not nasty whatsoever and is always socialising with other dogs. Will they be ok together, in a short while? I would be very grateful if anyone can give me some info on this. Thanks x

Re: Info on new dog!
Hi welcome, my girls called Lexi too!
As for the pups, the barking was probably just excitement. However, they are very similar in age and this can sometimes cause problems as they feel like litter mates and litter mates are more naturally aggressive to eachother (my personal belief is that it is to prevent inbreeding)
So you have you work cut out

Welcome Lexi, this is indeed the best forum for help and friendly advice.
You have certainly taken a lot on with two baby puppies.
I am sure others with more experience will be along here to give you advice; meanwhile welcome and good luck!

They will be fine.. It's just an exciting introduction I think. At his age he's just nervous and doesn't know how to react.

Re: Info on new dog!
well they've both been playing together, and they really gt on well! I'm so happy, only thing is, Lexi, the oldest, her neck has gone bright pink, I'm not sure if it's from the new shampoo I used on her, or if Bane has nipped her when they were playing, it kinda looks like a "lovebite" lol, but more pinkish, any ideas guys?
Thanx x

It could be either so hard to say w/o a pic. Just be sure to supervise them when they are together and if you have to go out it's best to seperate them. Without supervision a small disagreement can turn serious

Re: Info on new dog!
The pink mark has faded, so I think it was when they were playing. Im always with them when they're together, and if I have to pop out, I put them in their own crates, other than that they're super, dooper, fun, kind lil puppies x

Re: Info on new dog!
Hi! I love the name Bane. They are still babies so don't worry too much. However, they are at the stage when they need to work out who is the leader. This is the time where you need to show them you are in charge. At such a young age they "should" learn and understand quite quickly. Just be prepared for them to test you in any way they can

Re: Info on new dog!
Hey all, thanks for getting back to me, and welcoming me, really appreciate it !
Well, we've survived a week, and all i can say is, they have both been amazing together. I did panic at first, but they're bestest buds! They both know that I'm boss lol, and that's the way its gonna stay ! They're both pooped now and fast asleep, after running round the house like a pair of psychos haha, so I'm gonna chill now and enjoy the peace for a little while. ONCE AGAIN I'D LIKE TO THANK ALL YOU GUYS FOR YOUR HELP...................... >< XX

Re: Info on new dog!
They will get on fine, but need to have supervised playtime. Don't leave them alone for extended periods (like when you go out) for a few weeks, until they are really good friends. We also had 2 pups together (9 and 2 months). Now they are 11 and 5 months and are inseperable
