Second Jabs
Bacchus got his second jabs on Thursday. Can't wait to get him out for walks as he's 12 weeks now and getting harder to tire out indoors. In the 2 weeks since his first jabs he has gone from 5.6 kilos to 7.8 kilos so think he could use the exercise
PS
the 5 mins per month walk thing.......is this per day or per walk and does it only apply to hard surface walking e.g. can he have longer walk + play?

Meant to say longer walks + play on soft surfaces.

Re: Second Jabs
Yes as Janey says the 5mins is for lead walking and per walk , we were taking Tommy out 2-3 times a day at this , but if you having lots of off lead just don't overdo it

I took my first out a couple of days after the last jab, I know the vets say don't but it did no harm

Re: Second Jabs
I think keeping them in for 2 weeks after second jabs is to long, i once had a russell X border terrier i never had him jabbed i was young and daft , but he lived till he was 17 he was taken out most days with other dogs catching rabbits, i swear he never had a days illness in his life, another Russell i had, had his first jabs then died four days later of parvo , i now always have my dog jabbed up older and wiser, but i do think if there are no reports of parvo or other diseases in the area it's safe to take them out after second jab .janey wrote:reuben wrote:mickgill wrote:Snap our Duke his having his second jabs on Thursday as well .

Moo had her jabs when I got her, she was about 10mnths and from experience read here they are not needed every year as they last 3 years, so Moo has had 1 set of needles and she is coming on 4, I will pop her in soon. Its like advocate, when I got her it was once a month, now I would only do it if I saw them, I haven't flead her since I got her Xx

Half your luck!! In Australia we have 3 lots of jabs, 6-8wks, 10-12wks then finally 14-16wks my girl is 13 weeks now and can have her 3rd jab in 3 weeks then 1week after that we can FINALLY go out!! She is driving me insane and starting to get very naughty out of pure boredom...

Re: Second Jabs
The 5 minute per month rule is for on lead walking. They can play off lead on softer surfaces as much as you like and they can tolerate. You can also go for 2-3 walks per day.

Re: Second Jabs
Kali Mist is having her second jab and microchip tonight, then puppy party on thursday! They even sent her an invitation in the post! I completely sympathise with you about not being able to tire them out indoors, I can't wait until we can take her out and wear her out!
