Re: training pads !!????
In my opinion, no. I had them for Loki, but he never needed them, and I think it's quicker to just train them to go outside. Just make sure to praise him when he goes outside, and watch for any signs he might go when in the house and then take him out before he does anything. He'll get the hang of it

I did uo'se the pads but onlz because we donÄ…t have a garden. Just ignore the accidents and as ANattyRat said praise him realllllly when he goes outside. What I did with Debo, whenever I took him for a wee I said wee, wee. After few days didnt have to carry him outside he followed me and then just had said wee wee and he run to his toilet. Good luck.

Re: training pads !!????
My little Zoe is doing best by taking her outside whenever she is seen sniffing around, just waken up, or about 20 minutes of playing....the training pads were justsomething for her to chew lol

Just keep taking him outside, he will soon get the idea. He may then get in the habit of looking at the door when he needs go.

Re: training pads !!????
I'm one of the few that do use the pads. I would advise getting him used to going outside first though

Our pads are fairly successful. Dusty does have the odd accident off the pad but mainly goes outside now

Re: training pads !!????
I used the pads because didn't have a choice ( or was lazy, my flat is on 2nd floor ). But as soon we could take Debo out ,we removed the pads and after few days he got the idea. Now every time he wants to go he sits on the stairs. But if I had a garden I wouldn't use pads. Double work.

Re: training pads !!????
I think the main reasons I don't like the pads are;
1. You have double the training to do - pads first then outside &
2. If you have a real chewer, you run the risk of them eating them, and as they have absorbant crystals inside them these could swell up inside their stomach & cause a blockage.
When I had Bandit I was in a first floor flat. I didn't use pads & he was still houstrained pretty easily by taking him downstairs to the front space (couldn't call it a front yard - it was about the size of a postage stamp, but big enough for him to wee/poo in!).

Re: training pads !!????
The pads worked for us but I think we were really lucky with Debo. He got the idea very quickly and as soon as he could go outside he wasn't interested with pads. I didn't want to take him out before the injections because our front "yard" is dog's toilet from our street. But as you're taking your little one out in the garden I would stick with that.

Re: training pads !!????
Used pads for both mine as im not about all the time. Its not about when to got but where and as they get older and have more control of bladder they tend to favour outside given the encouragement and praise.
