Re: whens best to start considering a harness?
Molly had one from day one (12 weeks ish), but is now on her 3rd one. Unless you can get one that is adjustable up to adult size, I'd wait for a bit, unless you're happy to buy a new one when she needs it. (I have no idea how much they are, or whether you'd be willing to pay for them twice. This is why we've not got Molly a leather one, she'd just grow out of it)
Really, it's up to you.
Also, you're so lucky she's great on the lead, Molly's a year old now, and she's horrendous on the lead!

Re: whens best to start considering a harness?
Molly is pully nearly all the time, she was brilliant, but then a couple of months ago everything when backwards.
I'm sure I did read that you can get fully adjustable, up to adult size, leather harnesses, but I'm not 100% sure

Re: whens best to start considering a harness?
A good one for a pup is a fleece lined one. They're adjustable to an extent, so although it wouldn't last the whole of her life, it would last a while. You can also get them with a 'd' ring on the front of the harness as well as the back. I find it much easier to control a staff from the front end!

Re: whens best to start considering a harness?
I have just bought one for Holly, it is a small size... we have it as small as it goes, and then once we adjust is all the way out will prob fit her till about 9 months i would think... they reccomened Medium for Staffy.. so by 12 months i will need to buy that one. Mine is padded and was $26

Man Utd? WHAT? How dare you, I could go off some people!
If you have to support a team, support a decent one - like fulham.
OK, you can stop laughing now!

Re: whens best to start considering a harness?
If the harness is leather, wait till she is fully grown as pullies shoudl have softer harnesses, like fleese of nylon/cotton ones.
I have my pup on a harness, mainly cos he has a long line on when we are out.

Re: whens best to start considering a harness?
Logan walks quite happily on his lead. I wasnt gonna get him a harness as i've been informed that they can encourage bad behaviour ie. if doggy see's something he wants and you pull away with harness, it'll make him want it more. and also i've told you have more control over a dog with a 'halti' lead (Logan has a normal lead)I do like the harnesses, but i've read some people put the harness on the staffy to make it appear 'hard'. If i did plan to get him one, it would be when he's grown up a little bit more.Only the best for my boy too, i'd end up getting a custom made leather one. (Hubby wouldnt be happy as $$$$!)

Re: whens best to start considering a harness?
Yes, some people use them to look 'hard' - 'them' meaning the people not the staff! Shame they need to, really, isn't it?
If you want to keep control of the business end of a staff with a harness (the mouth!) try using a harness with a 'd' ring for the lead on the front (chest)of the harness rather than on the back.

those leather ones don't come cheap and your likely going to have to replace it over time because she'll get too big for it, i'd wait until she older but its upto you.

Re: whens best to start considering a harness?
Bruiser had one for 11 weeks, he hated it at first a tryed to rub himself against our walls to get it off before we left the house for walkies! however he is now used to it and he loves going out.
I feel much more at ease with him on harness and lead than on collar and lead as he pulled quite a bit for the first few weeks when walking him and i heard harness is better for your pup until they stop pulling?!
