Hi there (again)

Sorry this was another query I had:-

I understand that from the moment you get a puppy you should be socialising it with the environment as much as possible. I get all that - but how, for instance do you positively introduce a hoover or a washing machine or a house alarm? What technique should I use? I can only imagine that the first time my puppy hears a washing machine or house alarm he may be frightened. So how do you overcome this?

I just got on with it really, my second was a rescue so slightly older, she was jumpy at first but I acted as if nothing was wrong or different and she was fine.

If I remember rightly my first pup also just took to the noises if I didn't make out there was any difference. There all so different, someone will prob say that theres don't like it, but I'm affraid mine likes to try and hang off the end! Smile

Just make sure your pup feels safe & confident before introducing any strange sounds - give it a couple of days to settle, and then get on with life! Big Grin The worse thing you can do is 'sympathise' with your dog if he/she is a little nervous - just act as though it's the most normal thing in the orld, & the pup will take its cue from you.

I thought that was the case but just needed a bit of reassurance. Thanks

Great advice, the first time puppy hears the fire alarm or hoover they might shoot out the room but like Caryll and Jane said if you act like nothings changed then they will copy Smile

Milly is still a little unsure about the hoover but gets a little braver all the time we just carry on like it's no big thing
