socialising help/advice
i'm taking Lola camping in a few weeks to a big car show, and i'll be camping with other members of a club. i'm happy that Lola will be great with everyone there, occasionally a little too friendly, but its other dogs i'm worried about.
i know for definite there will be two other dogs there, a black 4 year old lab and a small patterdale. they have all met before, but it was well over a year ago, and lola and the patterdale didnt see eye to eye then.
both the lab and the patterdale are soft, obediant, friendly dogs (and the lab beat me in a pie eating contest, long story...)
Lola has also been relatively solitary these past few months, with only limited contact with other dogs, and on the lead if theres another dog present, she'll either completely ignore it (most of the time), or start to bark aggressivly (once or twice these last two months), regardless of the other dogs actions.
the site has the usual rule of Dogs on leads at all times.
so any advice on how to make sure Lola gets along and the weekend goes smoothly?

Re: socialising help/advice
You could start by taking them all for a walk. Keep yours on the opposite side and first and than work up to having them all on the same side. After the walk they should all be calm and tired.

I agree with J, also try not to feel aprehensive yourself as it signals itself down the lead, (I hoope that makes sense!)
Hopefully you'll have nothing to worry about and just enjoy

Agree with the above, give them plenty of time to socialise before you go with plenty of exercise.

Re: socialising help/advice
As jstaff said a long walk would definately help. Also a thing I do for my pups when they are in an unfamiliar and potentially upsetting/threatening situation is feed them lots of treats as this from my experience makes them more comfortable with the situation. This will make them happy and also they will associate the situation with getting lots of treats, turning a potentially threatening situation into a positive situation. It may also help to give the other dogs treats when she is around as well as her. But if there is any bad behaviour involved do not treat as this will reinforce the bad behaviour.
Hope I haven't confused you :S

Re: socialising help/advice
thanks for all the advice, unfortunatly a get together before hand is out of the question (they are in birmingham, and the show is near northampton)
with the patterdale, it wasnt that they argued or faught, but Lola usually either ignores dogs or is happy to play a little, but the the patterdale she was constantly wary and watching where she went and they are both very possessive of a tennis ball (she wont fight for one, but will try to grab it or knock it out of another dogs mouth)
i'm just going to keep her on a lead and harness, and ask if its alright to take all the dogs for a walk on lead so they are happy together.
