Mia normally has very healthy looking coat but she's been kennelled for 5 days recently and now that she is home again she seems a bit flakey if she is stroked vigourously, the kennel guy also said she seemed a bit irritated with her skin.

I haven't noticed her scratching excessivly, the odd itch here and there but nothing major, she's on wainwrights food and has a cod liver oil tablet a day, I was going to bath her but think I'll have to wait a while now because I don't want to strip out her natural oils, anything else I can do for her though?

I was thinking it might be where they didn't brush her at all but as the little madam chewed her last brush, I'm going to have to order a new one now before I can give her a good going over!

over here in Australia we have a product called Pinetarsol.. it is a ( human ) coal tar liquid soap and is used for soothing skin with chicken pox or allergies.. If ever my 2 get abit itchy scratchy I wash them in that.. it doesn't have to be rinsed and Jethro is nearly 13 now and has always had excellent skin and fur... You only need one capfull to a bucket of water.. it smells abit strong to start with but when they dry they just have a lovely clean smell about them. You could maybe try something like that.

It could also be from stress or change of enviroment.

Could also be the cleaning products they used to keep the kennels clean. Maybe a bath with a shampoo for allergies will help. Try feeding her a few sadrines now and then.

I would imagine she has been fretting after you and her normal surrondings, the cod liver oil tablets are good, you could also give her oil based fish like tuna or sardines, they are excellent for a dogs skin and coat

I also would bathe her with a moisturizing shampoo.
