Training lesssons Empty Training lesssons

I have been going to training lessons for the past 3 weeks - I know its not long. We are indoors with 8 other dogs and she is continually straining at the leash to get to the others, sometimes with her gargling noise and just discovered last night that she makes a squauky noise like a parrot too Laughing I find it very exhausting and other dogs seem to be responding to the training whereas she seems far too distracted but I thought that it would be a good opportunity to get her used to other dogs at least. When we are out walking she is straining at the leash to get to passing dogs too. I don't want her to be every dogs best friend but it would be brilliant if she could just ignore them. I don't want to never be able to let her off the lead - does anyone have any tips.

Have you tried taking her for a good walk before the training session. This should help her be more calm and relaxed which will help her focus more on the training.

I always take her for a walk first just in case but she gets this renewed energy when she sees the others. I'll have a look in the training section suggested by Busters mum. Smile

that's my take on it as well. what are your riding skills like? you could sap her energy better if you go for a ride but you need to be decent or she'll pull you over.

I presume bike? I tried once with Tyson. He had his bronze and silver tests for training so I thought I would take him for a long walk first to tire him out. About 2 hours later we went into the hall for his test and he was still full of energy!!

Buster is lucky at the moment as he is in a puppy class so he isn't the only one that plays up. I try to ignore him when he is being noisey, just try to hold him still, and then when he is quiet I give him some fuss and talk to him quietly. He has only been to about 3 lessons too, but they do get easier Smile
