Name and Training.
When do dogs learn their name? Bruno seems completely oblivious to his name and ignores us when he's in the garden. Will he get it eventually? How can I teach him?
Also I started some training with him today with a clicker and he seemed to have very little concentration. He couldn't stop running around, even when I had yummy treats to offer him. Will his focus get better as he gets older?

Bruno is still only a baby and has only been with you for a short space of time, there is so much for him to take in at the moment,he's got so much to explore and get in to ,just keep saying his name and calling him,he'll soon learn

I'm sure it won't take long, they learn quickly but like said above, so much is new and exiciting at the moment, he's got a lot to take in

Mmm sweet shops.... Poor Bruno haha! I wouldn't know where to begin.
I've just baked a red velvet cake that's in the oven now and I'm excited enough about that!!!

Re: Name and Training.
Keep calling his name and give him lots of praise when he responds to it, a tiny treat may work well too.

They definitely do take a while to respond! It's all just noise to them until they really can put it together and learn it all He will get the hang of it in no time!

Re: Name and Training.
Training takes time and patience ... to start, it helps if you focus on a particular bit (sit for example), practice it inside first (lots less distraction!) and only for a couple of minutes in length each time (pups have a short attention span)
In regards to the name, I reserve Chiquito as a full name for only the occasions when I want my boys attention immediately .. he knows when I say it I mean now. All other times I call him Choc, Chocolate, Chicky, Burrito and several other combo's of these nicknames ... they learn the word/s and the tone quite quickly if you use it consistently

Re: Name and Training.
We're trying to use Bruno as much as possible but I already have nicknames for him haha.
Bru, Brewsky, Master Bru, Bruney boobs (my partner doesn't like that one hahaha) and tons of others. When he's being cute I always pick him up and snuggle him and call him my Brewsky boy!
But we're trying to stick to Bruno so he learns that first and he'll eventually get used to his nicknames too!
