poorly Lola!
Lolas back for being spayed.
Shes so sore, so weak & I feel so terrible.
She wont stop crying - Hasnt eaten all day - Is so tired & still doped up.
Shes been standing for the last 10 minutes with her whole body shaking as shes so weak but to painful to sit down.
If I had know I think id rather or ran around with a mop behind when it came to that time that season.
I stupidly never thought it would effect her this much. Stupidly thought shed come out & wag her tail not knowing what had happend. But tails firmly tucked underneath her.
Ive tried to encourage her to eat & to drink but shes not interested. Id like to make her rice & chicken but I only have wholegrain rice & no chicken but someone said tuna - Would that be bad for her?
I havnt even seen her underneath yet - but its very bloody & looks nasty from what I have seen... shouldnt the vet clean her up?

Re: poorly Lola!
Poor girl. It's the effects of the anaesthetic. Did the vet give you pain killers for her?
Tuna should be fine for her, but don't worry too much if she doesn't want to eat, she's probably feeling too dopey & confused to bother with food. See if you can tempt her with a little water, or maybe a couple of ice cubes just to get a little liquid into her.
Give her 24 hours & she'll be feeling much better, I'm sure.
If you're at all worried in the morning, just give the vet a quick ring and ask advice.

I would advise you to ring the vets now, she shouldn't be in that state, they can at at least put your mind at ease and give you some advice.

Aww, she'll be ok, id be asking the vet for pain killers in the morning though, and yes they should have cleaned her up but it might have been weeping, did they give you a lampshade to stop her licking at it, she might not bother with it - maisy didnt - but if theres alot of dried blood round the wound she might want to clean it herself bless her. if your worried ring the vets now, thats what we pay for!

Re: poorly Lola!
If you can try getting some honey into her mouth and rub onto the gums with your finger, this will help stabilise her blood sugar level.

Re: poorly Lola!
Personally I would get her settled and let her rest.If she's anything like mine have been she'll be fine by morning and you'll be stressing keeping her still

Re: poorly Lola!
Thanks for all the replies.
We have a lampshade and pain killers, we were told to start the meds in the morning. Haven't needed the shade yet but will put on her overnight to prevent any licking
Hopefully you're all right (im sure you are) and she'll be much better tomorrow
Thanks again x

Re: poorly Lola!
Don't forget, if you are at all concerned about her condition, give the vet a ring - as Kate says, that's what they're paid for!

Re: poorly Lola!
When Polly was spayed she cried all night after getting home, our vet said that the anaesthetic can affect them that way sometimes. She was also very wobbly from the effects of the painkillers she was given while she was still at the vets, but she did manage to wobble outside to pee before bedtime.
She looked so sad all I wanted to do was cuddle her better

Re: poorly Lola!
Morning all - Still very sorry for herself but can you blame her?
She went out to pee before bed & still managed to bark at a few cats hehe
She slept in with us & was as good as gold. I now know what its like to have a new baby as i did not sleep a wink watching her to make sure she was ok lol
Shes had some pain killers & is snoring away on her bed.
Love her
