A Poorly Axl

Bit of a bad week, Axl has been coughing every now and then and been sick twice anyway, took him to the vets and he has kennel cough and bronchitis :(He's had his vaccination so its weird he picked it up but yep, not a happy staffy at the moment.  Vet said this area is rife with kennel cough at the moment and if he didn't have the vaccination he'd be a lot worse so thank God I did get him vaccinated!  Anyway, I did the only thing any good mummy can do.. yep went out and bought him lots of toys and bones to keep him occupied on his quarantine, my poor little love  (His hooman Grandma bought him lots of pressies too, he's been spoilt lol)

I never knew they could still catch kennel cough even though they've had the vaccination! Anyway, he's still smiling bless him...

I suppose it's like when we get coughs and colds, each virus is different? Poor axl, hope he's better soon

Re: the kennel cough; the vaccination only covers one (sometimes two) strains of the virus, and generally is next to useless in preventing it! In future, I wouldn't bother.

Aww poor Axl! Gwen has just gotten over kennel cough! She also had the vacc. She was on antibiotics and cough suppressants and they really helped! It took about 3 weeks for her to really be 100% better! It's terrible to see them uncomfortable! Gwen would cough so hard she would start gagging and then throw up white foamy stuff! I hope Axl has a quick recovery! Try to limit the exercise that causes them to cough more. Also one more thing that really helped was to bring Gwen into the bathroom while I took a hot shower. The steam helps soothe their throat!

Ah I didn't know that Caryll I'll not bother in future as I thought it stopped it altogether doh!

Thanks Cara I'll make sure he does his bathroom guard duty on the inside of the door so he can have the steam

Aww poor Axl! He still looks a happy chap though! So cute! I hope he gets better soon! Being spoilt must help  it always does!
