Overnight Poohing & Vomiting
Hi all, im hoping i can get a little feedback from the forums on this one, Our Boy Wilfred is 17 months old and over the last week or so he has started pooohing and vomiting during the night,
if i can give a little overview bleow and would appriciate all feedback,,,,
17 months old
Not Intact sexually
BARF Feeder, and has been since weened
Inoculations upto date & Wormed
Excercised 2 times a day for at between 30 & Hour min each time"Morning" & "Evening" -inc walk and play with other hounds.
I stay up and take him down the bottom of garden on lead and ensure he does his bussines before we all go to bed at night.
NO issues during the daytime - even for when we are out at work and he is alone.
Not crated but has run of kitchen with his crate in thier with gate open and his day bed.
As i say this has only started happening overnight for the last week or so,
My partner has had the day off work today and taken to the vets who doesnt agree with BARF feeding and has told her to move him to boiled Rice & Chicken, which he has never had before !!!!
"Will this not make it worse as he had never had this food before"
Any Help is really appreciated.......

Matt & Jo

Re: Overnight Poohing & Vomiting
Difficult.
Very few vets agree with raw feeding, mainly because they know nothing about it!
Exactly what do you feed & when? Has anything changed recently - routines etc? When he pops is it normal or bum gravy? What comes up when he vomits?
Sorry to anyone eating their lunch right now!

There has been no change to environment or lifestyle thats why come out of the woodwork for us also the fact that its only happening overnight
could it be related to the Chicken at dinner been reading that alot of dogs struggle with chicken,

Re: Overnight Poohing & Vomiting
If he's always been ok with chicken then I doubt it's that.
When he vomits, is he bringing up undigested food? Is he ok in himself?

Re: Overnight Poohing & Vomiting
Te vomit we found on Saturday morning was vomit from the nightime but i suspect he had eaten some of the pooh from the night time as there were 2 piles of pooh and a vomit on the rug next to the back door.
Then also vomit in his day bed with the undigested chicken in it...
He, his bed and the rug were all clean on the Friday night at 11:55 when i put him to bed and he had just done a 1 and 2 at the bottom of the garden,,

Re: Overnight Poohing & Vomiting
Maybe it's just a little bug.
I'd keep an eye on him & if he worsens again, just pop him back to the vet.

Caryll, Thanks for the feedback good to talk to someone who is not a biased Vet,
it was the fact that this was occuring overnight only that was confusing me but thanks for your time

Re: Overnight Poohing & Vomiting
Hi all just a quick update and thanks for yesterday .....
Wilfred had no overnight issues last night,
Had his mince mix for dinner before 17:00 hrs and took for a walk no #2's but made sure when went down garden at end of night i stayed out with him till he tried and we got a lttle one out there and was firm no dioreaha
Got up this mornign to a clean kitchen and made a big fuss of him then took hom straight out where he did a text book #2, so even more of a fuss...
SO fingers crossed all good, with whats happened im seriously thinking though about reducing the amount of chicken in his raw food but will go to another thred for that to dicuss...
Cheers

Re: Overnight Poohing & Vomiting
Sounds like a bug if he is bringing up undigested food, Any improvement? I find natural bio-yoghurt helps when they are feeling inder the weather. or try him with some brown rice & cooked chicken breast or scrambled eggs. These shouldn't cause a problem even if he has never had them!

Re: Overnight Poohing & Vomiting
Dogs often get little 'upsets' & normally that's all they are. They last about 24 hours & then it's all back to normal. Maybe this was one of those times!
