Advocate adverse reaction.
Just given Sophie her Advocate on the back of her neck and she is looking rather poorly.
This happened last time and we are concerned about her being like this so we phoned the vet for advice. Each time the treatment has been administered her reaction has been more extreme.
The vets were very helpful as usual and have advised a different product next time but could offer no advice as to why she is so poorly after having Advocate. They say no other dog on their books has had these side effects.
She cowers when it is put on the back of the neck and has definitely not ingested any. She has been afraid and mopey, very sleepy and clearly anxious.
It normally wears off by the next day but as Sopie was treated for Demodex as a pup we feel these monthly treatments are important.
The vet is contacting the manufacturer on our behalf but has anyone else experienced any side effects with their dogs after using Advocate.
It is definitely the correct dosage.
They are changing us to Stronghold next time, again has anyone any info?
Thanks in advance ><

Re: Advocate adverse reaction.
When I have done Moo in the past she was on advocate and had no ill affects, I am sure someone on here not so long back said that there dog had a reaction to it though, obviously just doesn't suit Sophie.
I hope she is feeling better in herself soon and that stronghold agrees with her next time

Re: Advocate adverse reaction.
Mine are fine with Advocate but i stopped using any on my cats after two were ill and were very uncharacteristically nervous/paranoid and one of my Laperms has a bold spot were spot on was applied 4yrs ago. I think i remember googling the product and finding results about adverse reactions, .

Re: Advocate adverse reaction.
Are you sure its an actual reaction and she just doesn't like having it done and is upset and sulking?
Romeo hates with a seething passion the advocate spot on and when I take it out tries to hide himself in the corner and runs away when I try to put it on. I usually get more on myself then him! (And it bloody melts nail varnish!) He's very jumpy for the rest of the day and then sulks and won't look at me.
I know he's just being a big girl's blouse and not in pain because he does the same thing with baths!
If the same thing happens with the new product it sounds like a psychological reaction not a physical one.

Re: Advocate adverse reaction.
Bob - getting almost the same reaction from Millie today as you did with Sophie - applied Advocate last night. She just wants to sleep, seems frightened and won't eat. Hopefully she'll be back to her normal self tomorrow.

Re: Advocate adverse reaction.
Yes we have but they would not talk to us as they had not prescribed it.
They refered us back to our vet even though it was our vet who advised us to contact them.
