me and my mam used to sit up and watch the old corny horror movies and scare our selves silly. Surprised i used to have to sleep with my mam those nights. one film had a little native statue that would come to life and run round the floor with its little dagger stabbing people. one scene the woman locked herself in the bathroom and it hacked its way through the door. me and my mam wouldnt put our feet on the floor untill my stepdad came and checked under the couch Laughing think my mam was indulging me at the time. the main thing that used to frighten me though and it did frighten it sent a shiver and feeling of dread up my back was the music to the hammer house of horrors. that used to come on the telly after my bed time but if i heard i would run down the stairs crying Crying or Very sad my mam had to come sit on my bed till i fell asleep. she stopped watching it in the end cos of this. kids are silly really arent they

For me it was Alfred Hitchkocks "The Birds". They still freak me out. I am always nervous of escalators. My mom was always freaked by them and would yell 'mind your toes' evertime we went on one. She regalled my brother and I with stories about them trapping your toes and squishing them

I watched an documentary on John Merrick 'the elephant man' when I was about eight and it terrified me for years afterwards. Even though I felt sorry for him and knew his deformity wasn't his fault. Then, last year I thought I was over it and decided to watch the film with John Hurt, completely terrified myself and had to sleep with the light on. Just kept imagining him stumbling out the wardrobe in the mask and hat he wore. Took me several weeks to get over it again Sad Stupid I know.
Also when I was really young there was this cartoon I loved called Mighty Max, my friend had a video of one episode about these green sea Zombies. I had nightmares for months after watching a minuite of it. Also I used to hallucinate things like this tall cloaked figure gliding around my room and coming to grab me.
I actually become more sensitive as i've got older. I cringe at bloody scenes in films and I never used to. I also get freaked out and cry a lot easier. Straight Face

The Night of the Hunter . Robert Mitchum terrified me when he slit the kids mothers throat and they see her body in the river . Lillian Gish saves them but i couldn't go for a pee after dark for months!! and i had to sleep with my duvet tucked up around my neck. I blame my parents for letting me watch it Smile

Love those movies. We used to chant Bloody Mary into the mirror when I was a kid
