Puppys sore paws
I recently got an 8 week old pup from a local pet shop, i hadnt planned to get a puppy that day but i couldnt leave without her she was so friendly.
Shes a very good friendly pup, happy with children, and other dogs, even cats. Although she does chew the furniture and is quite difficult to house train so far.
Shes not agressive in any way, she lets me take food right from under her with no growling (my old dog used to growl) ive not really had any problems with her.
Took her out for her first walk, not very far and she was quite tired afterwards, i guess thats normal since she had never been outside before?
Also, is it normal for her paws to be sore after walking outside, she had a few small scrapes on her paws and i think a little blister on one of them, i have bathed them in a little bit of salt water to clean them, but she did cry a little and has been limping ever so slightly since then...
She does have a grade 1 heart murmur as we found out when taking her to the vets. I wasnt told she had to be restricted in any way with regards to excersise, i wonder if thats a factor, even though she is only 4 monyths old?
Ive not had my own puppy before, my last one belonged to my parents so any advice would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
Take it easy with the amount of exercise and try to keep to soft surfaces if possible.

Re: Puppys sore paws
She is a little young for walking out in the big bad world. One should wait until she has had the second round of shots at least. Short walks of 15 minutes should be sufficient at 12 weeks (Caryll... is this right?)

Re: Puppys sore paws
Thanks for the replys, i forgot to write she is infact 17 weeks now, she was 8weeks old when i had her, shes had all her injections and everything and is ok for walking from a vets point of view.
They seem to have stopped hurting her considering she doesnt want to come back inside the house anymore!

Re: Puppys sore paws
Her pads are soft, so limit the amount of hard concrete walking she gets till they harden up.
