Sore paws
Over the weekend I have noticed a little blood around Dora's nails on 3 of 4 paws. I'm not sure whether it is just the cold/snow causing it or something else...?
I wonder if her nails have been getting too long and catching as we haven't had many tarmac/concrete type walks lately.
Her paws seemed ok this morning after her walk. The ice and snow is melting round here now. We decided to take her on the pavement again to try and wear her nails down a bit. It was very muddy everywhere now though so I worry if there were cuts on her paws they might get a bit dirty...
Anyone had this issue, or have any idea what could be causing it? Is there anything I should be aware of that I might not have thought about...?
Thanks x

Re: Sore paws
Hello
I had this problem a couple of times with my dog. I bought some "paw balm" from the pet shop and rubbed it in as it prevents the pads from drying out and cracking in the cold weather.

Re: Sore paws
Haven't had this issue before. Do you trim her nails or just rely on the concrete to keep them down?

Re: Sore paws
no we don't trim her nails, as they are normally ok. They are looking a little longer than they were since the snowy weather.
It was hard to tell whether the blood was coming from the very tip of the paw pad under the nail which did look a little cracked, or from the nail itself. Do the nails actually join to the paw pad or are they separate...?
