Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer
Now i love this man i think some of the things he can do are amazing .
But have you tried the touch and "tsscchhh " thing ?
I do that to Charlie and the bugger think`s it`s play time and trys to bite my hand ! I`ve found yelling " NO ! don`t bite me you little sh*t !" works alot better

Re: Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer
i like Victoria Stilwell's methods better. IMO her show is too focused on the human drama angle though. :-<

Re: Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer
I dont mind him. Take bits and pieces from him and others from other behaviourists.

Re: Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer
Think hes great personally love watching his shows, my oh has read the majority of his books hes now reading cesars rules. im not a reader at all have only read the first book, but this book has a few charts which tell you the percentage of different methods he uses because aliot of people seem too think he just does the alfa roll uses shock collars etc he dosnt he uses different methods which suit the dog.
hers the results.
leadership-98%
body language-91%
exercise-72%
positive reinforcement-67%
pack power-63%
theres also a chart which says the percentage of what tools he uses aswel.
We do the tsssst thing with ours and the touch and it works perfectly when i tried it too start with it was useless because i wasnt doing it right, now i do it works a treat.
Also you have too remember he aint a dog trainner he rehabilitates dogs.

I have read his first book as well Shell. I have two others here that I have yet to read and have the full 6 CD set. All got as research before I got Tyson as I wanted to raise him right (which ever way that is)

Re: Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer
We've been watching his episodes on natgeo website. I know people dislike him and some of his methods but imo hes saved so many dogs and rehabilitated them i just think hes amazing.
My oh who is a bigger cesar fan than me has also noticed that in his first season of dog whisperer he prehaps was a little more forcefal with the dogs than he needed too be but if you watch now hes so much more patience. and that could be from listening too his critics and realising he was too harsh and he should be credited for that imo.

Re: Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer
I see his new season has been syndicated to NatGeo Wild. National Geographic channel has just started with reruns from episode 1 and you are right. he was very much more forceful. I dont think I like the way he was in the beginning. Have you noticed how his hair has been styled and he has nice new pearly tats in later episodes? I like his Jeep in the early series. its just like mine

I am not a fan of his archaic training methods. I am much more impressed with positive training methods.
