Jogging/ Running with a dog!
Does anybody on here go running with there saffie, if so how do you find it? do they keep up or give up?
I do alot of running, and was curious if they are good enough to take along occasionally.

Re: Jogging/ Running with a dog!
I am just in the throes of getting Tilly running with the bike so may be a little more arduous for her but they have great stamina once they have built it up. Just go gentle at first , work up to the big ones and make sure you carry some water. Till's development has gone a little on hold due to getting spayed last week and the weather , but I think you and storm will get some great exercise and company. Have a look on www.innerwolf.co.uk and they have some great accessories for running and cycling like waist fixed leads etc, have a great time

They have great stamina. I dont know how old Storm is but personally I would not run more than 1 or 2 km if she is still very young (under a year). Build up slowly and then I am sure Storm will run as long as you do. Watch over heating. They do overheat quickly even in cool weather. Lots of water stops.

Thats the name I'm going to call her, although naming a dog seems to be more stressful than anything, but I couldn't buy a nameless dog wouldn't feel right. I'll be getting one in about 10 weeks just wanted to know how they'd cope with it.
That website does some great stuff, i.e collars and things. Thanks for the link appreciated. I'll have to take two water bottles then in that case, and take it slow.

Re: Jogging/ Running with a dog!
I run with Ledger and got one of the hands free leads off inner wolf he pretty much trots on ahead of me apart from the frequent wee stops I am currently training for the marathon so don't take him out on long runs yet as he is too disruptive but I will take him upto about 5 miles at the moment, although he has been for 13-14mile walks with me last summer and as has been said above just take plenty of water or I used to factor in a couple of points where he could paddle in a stream
