KONG toys
So Romeo got this strange red poo looking kong toy for xmas from a friend. he had no intrest in it what so ever. so i went and brought the kong... stuffing? which, shockingly he actually likes. so i filled that sucker with it... he licked it all out and didnt chew on the dame thing once! He is starting to get his new teeth so i am trying to encourage him to chew. does anyones dogs actually play and or like these kong toys?
Re: KONG toys
my mum has one for her german shepard and shes started chewing on it as her back teeth is comming through and she swears by kong toys
Re: KONG toys
My two love them .. they didnt used too untill i started putting peanut butter in them, now they sit there chewing em waiting for peanut butter to be added lol.
My old boy got through 5-6 of them in his life time he loved them with or without stuffing haha.

Re: KONG toys
Kong toys are great. Rocky has his dinner put in one of these, which is James Welbeloved kibble with some cooked chicken. He always eats out of it OK and it slows down the time it takes for him to eat which is also good.

Re: KONG toys
ok, so what i've just done is stuffed it full of his normal food which is Golden Eagle, and then packed that stuffing in good to hold it all back, he seems to be more intrested now. i just feel so sorry for his poor teeth they are clearly bothering him as he chews like a maniac lately. luckily, not on anything he is not meant to, but i thought the rubbed would be better then hard plastic.
Re: KONG toys
ahaha im getting a small one for scarlett her mummy enjoys them so when shes a bit older i think she will too
Re: KONG toys
so just tried it in a differnt manner, LAYERS. kibble, stuffing, kibble stuffing..ect... its working! he's going mental over it hope it helps his teething, although he seems to be doing more licking then anything else

Re: KONG toys
i ahve 2 one for each of them but lemmy isnt nothered for his so lottie thinks its abonus when he leaves it and she gets 2 of them filled with peanut butter (cheaper than the actual stuffing) if your dog is teething you can fill it with anything and freeze it too it will cool his gums down

Re: KONG toys
Ty loves his. I fill it with kibble and block the hole with peanut butter which keeps him busy. Some faboulous ideas here for filling. Any more?

Re: KONG toys
if his teeth oare bothering him try giving him an icecube or icepop to play with he will lick it and chew it and the cold will help ease his gums. also try him with harder chews to help them through a little. the kong is good it will keep him busy and maybe it will be enough to ease his teeth and keep his mind off things. anything he will chew on basiclay will help poor thing hope he gets through it all soon

Re: KONG toys
Tilly seems to be very lazy with hers that we bought her for xmas, put one of them Baker's sizzlers in (like a little bacon rasher) and as soon as she can't get her teeth to it any more she just packs up and goes back to sleep

Re: KONG toys
peanut butter seems to be king here. i think the frozen yougurt is good. Romeo had a thing for yougurt in gerneral. Romeo is so spoilt little puppy so. his toys have taken over my apartment, starting to think his bed looks better then mine.
the thing about peanutbutter thou is... it would be one spoon for him, one for me, one for him two for me, none for him all for me i looove peanut butter.

Re: KONG toys
to clean a kong toy is easy just get a bottle brush and some ordinary washing up liquid and water with a good rinse after then leave to air dry

Re: KONG toys
Suki loves Kongs. For teething you can put them in the freezer as well so they get some pain relief while chewing. We also used sliced and frozen sweet potaotos.

Re: KONG toys
We steam them first. Suki loves them. Frozen carrots are also good for teething as are ice cubes. The cold helps to reduce the pain
