Help with Kong... I just don't get it!
So i've bought the Kong Extreme.
Put some treats in it.
She rolls it around until the treats fall out the big hole.
Eats treats.
Game over!
What am I doing wrong - do I HAVE to stuff it with gooey things to make it work eg. Peanut Butter?
Won't I end up with a smelly, dirty carpet?!
What else can I use?
Help please!

Some dogs will eat it without a filling like Suki others don't Try peanut butter or a mixture of something she can't get out so easily. You can also stuff it and put it in the freezer which might help entice her

Moo has never been interested in hers, nor a boomer ball, nor a treat ball, not really in stag bars and never in bones!
If she can't destroy it, its no fun to her! Give her a football and she's entertained for hours, its just the mess to clean up after lol x

Lol that sounds familiar janey!
Shammy leather is the latest non-dog toy that's become a dog toy.
jstaff - I don't want a mess everywhere though...

If you freeze it before giving it to her the clean up is easier and it doesn't really stick to the carpet

OK so maybe frozen peanut butter is worth a go then?!
And she can play with it outside...

Yep, she has always been like it, she has never chewed anything she shouldn't but she prefers things that aren't an ordinary chew thing, its like she likes to ruin things she shouldn't as long as I give them to her!!

I don't think Lexi would be interested in it, but yes you will get a messy carpet. can you not give it in the kitchen?

Stuff it with lots of good things and freeze it. If you dont want the mess everywhere try putting a cover down over the carpet, or give it outside.

Good thought Equi but I have a kitchen diner - half carpet / half tile. She tends to play on the carpet, as the tiled bit is the area where I cook etc.

Ledger gets peanut butter in his, he doesn't touch it otherwise. TBH it doesn't make a mess but I smear the pb around the inside as much as possible, I also use it at agility I hang onto the kong and it distracts Ledger enough to keep his attention on me

Re: Help with Kong... I just don't get it!
I bought my staffies one only my boy Becks used to love it. I used to stuff treats in to it so they wouldn't just fall out and he loved it until we got our female Stella. she decided that she didn't want his rubber toys lying around so she ripped them to shreds... She'd rip chunks off, chew it for a minute, then spit them out on the floor where Becks would eat them. They now have empty plastic bottles to play with because they destroy the toys within minutes and its costing a FORTUNE! Lol.

I think I got Tilly one that's too small as i cant really see how , unless it was just small loose food, she could ever get anything out , thing I boght the medium. She doesn't play with it though, if the food is sticking out she will grab it , take and then game over
