Vets!
Do you get on with yours and do you like them ?
Mine are fantastic,a little expensive but provide an excellent service.Jo who works on reception has quite a soft spot for my Meg and during her last two overnight stays went to say Hello to her And even though she was very poorly both times Meg still wagged her tail and gave her a fuss.
Tyler has only been once to have his bloods done and again they were excellent with him and gave him a treat afterwards, couldn't believe he stood there wagging his tail having blood drawn off with a great big needle LOL.
I really do trust mine and know that my dogs are in good hands should they have to stay in and they keep you up to date with what's happening too

Re: Vets!
Mine are a bit pricey, I suppose, but what vets aren't nowadays? Other than that I have no problem with them at all. Dempsey's had several problems in his short life so far & they've been very good with him. They're pretty good with me, too; they keep me informed & actually listen when I say things. They've always answered questions as fully as possible without treating me as though I can't possibly understand what they're going on about!
They saved him when he had bloat & they dealt with the ripped ear very well - no, I've no complaints.

Re: Vets!
I did till last week.
Moo had an ear infection, again. Now the vets will not give me a repeat perscrption, even though I no exactly what she needs.
So I end up paying £30 for a consultation (lasts 2 mins) only to be given her norm. Anyhoo's I can put up with that, but this time I didn't take her as I was working so just paid over the phone. £60 later!
Booked in for the check up 5 days later and all fine.
Get a letter 5 days later saying I owed £28 for the second consultation! I was like WTF.I never pay for them and she is in and out in 1 min.
I called and they have waved the fee, but no explanation as to why it happened, all I can think that it was my friend who they don't no and could charge what they like.
Now I don't trust them so much Xx

Re: Vets!
In the vets i go to there are four vets.
one is a girl who i honestly don't know why/how she is a vet. She knows nothing about birds, hates dogs and only knows anything about cats. Shes very surly and just not very nice.
One is a farmer and he is nice but a typical farmer in the way of unless its a cow, put it down lol
one is a very very tall guy and he is like a typical science biology geek who knows everything about everything but totally lacks a normal personality (i.e. he does that thing were he says something very technical then makes a joke about it that noone but Dr Gunther von Hagen would get and does this little giggle to himself)
the other is a sex god sent from Zeus himself. that is all.

Re: Vets!
Im gonna answer no and yes as I have 2 vets
Small animal vet is okay but so expensive and so many rush off to the vets and I think the vets do exploit the owners
Equine vet very reasonable always does home visits the charge £30 and there ethilogical practice isnt to exploit owners but to do right by the animal

but then outside he was practically jumping up the walls talking about a calving heifer

My equine vet costs 25 for call outs but is the type that won't leave your yard without doing a full body check (£40) and jabs (£20) so i got him out for teeth one time and he looked at him and said he didnt need teeth doing but did the rest and cost me £80! I was like WTF! He is a very reputable equine vet but will not listen to you, does what HE wants. Needless to say, i get an equine dentist now when i need teeth. At least i know where i stand and they know what is expected of them! lol its £45 for any treatment and call out, very very good price if you ask me!
Tim stockdale identical twin brother does mine Ivan he charges £45 pounds too and visits every 12 months. The vet that I use came to my freinds horse the other day she had ripped her nose completly open with getting stuck on a dog clip so for call out 15 inside stitches 12 outside stitches antibiotic injection inflamitary injection weeks supply of bute sedation she charged £90 I think thats so good.

Re: Vets!
We have 2 vets at the practice. We only use the woman for basic stuff and emergencies. But the man is very good. He goes on lots of specialst courses. He is also the heart specialist locals are refered to.
We rehomed a 6 month old jack russell on the Saturday he was very poorly and was in the vets on the Monday morning. He was diagnosed with a cogenital heart defect. The rescue centre wouldn't help with the cost and the insurance hadn't kicked in, so we had to pay all the bills. But the undercharged on all the tests and treatment.
We are not charged for follow ups calls. And if I'm concerned about how his heart is they charge very little. All the staff are great.
Now we have rehomed a very, very nervous staffy x. They have been more than happy to go in every week when the vets aren't there for the nurses to fill her full of sweeties and fusses in the treatment room and not charge for it. I'm very lucky!

Re: Vets!
Lol. The funniest posts sometimes come about in interesting ways! I really like my vet. She is expensive but does house calls. She also loves my two Staffys.

Re: Vets!
The vet I go to loves staffys and always fusses over my 2. I have alot of time for him..he is genuinely a caring person and it is not all about the money as when Jethro went last time to have his warts looked at on his tummy he said he needs them cut out another day..and I won't charge you for today..and he did his anal glands as well!
I once went to a vet closer and the woman that saw Jethro was a real bag..I don't remember anything about her except I didn't like her manner at all and she had a ring in her nose ( I have nothing against that sort of thing either by the way! ) But when Jethro went back there and I phoned up to book in I said "Oh I don't want to see the vet with the ring in her nose..she was a real bag and I didn't like her" and they said Oh that's okay she doesn't work here anymore! I didn't know how else to describe her!
