Claw came off
Murphy caught his claw on his back paw yesterday and it came off.. blood everywhere, it seems okay today not bleeding and he can walk on it no problem. anyone know when he can go out for his normal walks as i dont want it to get infected?

Re: Claw came off
Hi & welcome to the forum.
He can go out now. Just bathe the foot when you come back in warm, salted water & keep an eye on it. It's surprising how quickly a torn claw heals itself.
If he starts to limp, or if he starts to chew at it then you might need to see a vet, but otherwise i should think it'll be fine.

Re: Claw came off
Moo split her claw badly a year back, had it checked at the vet and bandaged.
Told to keep it dry but walks could be fine as long as the dressing stayed dry. Being a staff its not so easy but I could redo the bandage myself. Had a plastic cover, it was a drip bag from the vet cut in half!
Keep it clean and I would suggest lead walks for a while.
Hiya and welcome btw
