Has your dog ever bit you while in the middle of playing? and what did you do if they had?

Yes!
I yelled "Ouch!" If he catches me when he's playing I just calm the game down a bit - it's an accident so I don't tell him off. Generally speaking, though, I can tell when he's getting a bit too rough & I'll either finish the game for a while or change the game so I can't get bitten!

Re: biting...
I get nipped sometimes while playing tug. I just say ouch and let go of the toy. It's not intentional just an accident so I don't really do any corrective training. I will usually stop playing tug at that point though

Re: biting...
ok thank you i was playing with River earlyer and she seemed to get aggressive and kept going for her kong, growing and she niped me. and it hurt lol wasnt a bite. it did seem she was getting over excited i just gave it to her and moved away. she also snaped at my daughter today when she was behind her, i figured that it was River giving my daughter a warning, i also told my daughter not to do what she was doing, she has also been barking alot lately. it only been today.. i dunno what going on with her. but its nice to know its just cos she is getting over excited. mind due she also barked at her kong when she couldn't get her treats out i wondered whether it was possible she is getting a bit stroppy cos maybe she is due in season, i dont have any records for her, but do females sometimes get a bit narky when they due??

Re: biting...
Let out a yelp just like a dog would do, if they dont get the message do it louder next time, then louder until they know. If you are having difficulty, move back from the situation at the same time you yelp.

Re: biting...
I was just about to post about biting!
The past couple of weeks on the odd day when Lola has been playing and sniffing in the part and I catch her eating poop... I'll tell her off and come here she'll do her mad staffie run, lie down, have a naughty twinkle in her eye and when I go to leash her she will follow my hand over her head/round to her neck and she will go to bite me!!
ANY ADVICE?!?!?

Yes, they can do. How old is she & do you know if she's had any previous seasons?

She's pushing you! Dempsey used to do this a lot (still does sometimes, but he doesn't make contact - he doesn't dare!). You've told her off, so she releases the tension by playing (the mad run, the laying down etc). Then, of course, you join her & reach over her head to put the lead on - instant invitation to play!
Get her to sit or stay before you try to attach her lead; then, when you want to put her lead on you can give her the command & she'll know it isn't a game.

I tell her to stay go to leash her and she'll bite. She knows when the lead goes on that she's done wrong and calm down. Its getting the lead on her!! lol
Re: biting...
How about carrying a slip lead with you? Then, instead of reaching over her to attach her lead, you can just slip the lead around her head & do a little heel work with her. Then you can attach her proper lead afterwards.

Re: biting...
I was playing with a rope toy with Bailey and I looked away just as he jumped for the toy but he got my thumb and chomped down, nice trickle of blood down my hand haha! I just stopped playing with the toy till he had calmed down a bit.
