Any suggestions for a controlable harness?
Have always owned dogs from Dobermans and Labs to Schnauzers & Westie X with chihuahua. So quite experienced in owning and walking dogs...That was until we adopted a rescue dog, which on appearance looked like a Dobbie X'd with a black lab. She came home and I was intrigued to know what she was crossed with so we had her DNA tested. She has the markings of a Dobbie but the results showed she is a Rottie X with a Mastiff; Staffy crossed with a Bulldog X !! She is the most well natured dog at home, wanting only "Staffy cuddles" and love...But once out the house on the lead she is a nightmare! Have tried a Halti harness & lead, Gentle Leader and who else knows what. But she still lurches if she sees a cat or fox (she could have seen these weeks ago but to her they must still be in the same place!). She can sometimes show agression towards other dogs, although my Sister came round for the first time with her (not that behaved Guide Dog!) and the 2 dogs got on v well. I am only slight, the dog is just about half my weight. Any ideas anyone please? Oh and how to stop a dog potentially getting over a 6ft fence? But she sits by the roadside

Re: Any suggestions for a controlable harness?
You will have to correct the behaviour I think. When she starts to pull on the harness turn around and walk in the opposite direction. This takes time and consistency but it will eventually show results.
Now is she is determined to go chase after something try distracting her with food or a favoite toy.
I'm afraid I can't help with the fence, they are escape artists. Is there a way you could either build the fence higher or add something on top to enclose it? Not sure how big your yard is so this may not be practable.

Gentle leader has been a miricle for me with my 2 boys, the difference was incredible! As 2 the fence my Ty kept jumping over my 6ft fence, all i have done is attatched another bit of wood to the top sloping inwards, if u get what i mean and that has stopped him

I also use a gentle leader on my boy. He is huge, hideously strong and pulled terribly. The gentle leader has been a godsend for me. Blaze's idea about adding wood at an angle is great because your dog will just bang her head on the wood if she tries to jump the fence

It also makes it near impossible for them to pull themselves over.....well Ty did do it once but only coz he used the wheelie bin to jump on first lol

I have used the Easy Walk harness, by the same people as the Gentle Leader and I have also used the Sporn Harness. Both worked well to curb pulling!

Re: Any suggestions for a controlable harness?
Thanks everyone for your input. Last night and today I took her out on the gentle leader, she hated it but got used to it and realised she couldn't do much against it... But my Husband let her out in the garden, was right by her side when she leapt at the fence (my mistake, it's actually 6ft 6 fence), she got her elbows onto the top of it and was trying to drag her bag legs up...all in a split second. We have a garden which is just over 100ft long, should be enough for her but she must be hearing/smelling the foxes. My Husband is at his wits end and wants to find her a new home...something I am NOT willing to do. But I can see his point, if she gets over the fence, the neighbour WILL shoot at her. We've reported this neighbour before for shooting at foxes (we saw the damage caused & got the RSPCA involved). Am so sad, she is such a loving and gorgeous dog
