Hiya and welcome, all play with any dog/breed with a child should always be supervised, the dog will only know the boundries once you have set them. Staffs are renouned for being very friendly, but with training, and also being nearly 8 months old, you will have to be very strong, positive and concistent.

Stop the bad behaviour, you've only had him 3 weeks and he will learn, staffs are very eager to please and amazing family pets, but do need training which you can do. Xx

Thanks for your reply we have been told that he needs to be disciplined which is what we have started to do but now he has settled in with us we will be cracking down on him harder, he has been with his mum and dad most of his life and I'm guessing now that the people we got him off of has never had the time to do this, he is great with my daughter (he is like her shadow and vice versa) I never leave them alone together I'm always out in the garden when they are he has just got to learn that when me and my daughter are playing neither of us are getting hurt

And with training, being consistant, he will learn. Give him 'time out' when he plays up. Show him behaviour that is acceptable and what is not.

I guess when you and your daughter play, he also thinks its play time too, you only need to curtail this. Maybe have a special toy that he has when you and your daughter are together?

They really will learn what you teach them Smile
