RANT of the day... Empty RANT of the day...

Post by Rachel33 Sat Jan 26 2013, 19:03

SO.. after an awesome walk with m'lady and meeting some lovely human beings, just as my faith in humanity was somewhat restored we walk around the corner to an alley by the shop where somebody had left a HUGE Rhodesian Ridgeback tied to the pole, which then proceeded to fly at Biscuit!! She cr*pped herself initially, but then, of course, decided that he was fair game and went back for him! So, there I am stuck in a small space with a staffy and a ridgeback going hell for leather! I mean, christ on a bike, LUCKILY given my job I managed to get us both out unscathed, but imagine if that was an old biddy with a shih-tzu?! Surprised What is the world coming to I dont want to s

not a pleasant situation though it happens we tend to avoid dogs that are tied up etc as they cant defend theirselves and will be a bit nervous Smile

Not nice to be in a restricted place when it could happen.

I think alot of people believe they're the only person in the world. Hence, there's no way anyone could ever come by my reactive dog and get into a scrape. It's the same out walking. They're in their own little bubble.

Or, perhaps the dog was there to deter dog theft? It would work...

A bit of a careless attitude from the Ridgeback owner, it could easily have been snatched if the wrong person had come along.

It may well be that the dog isn't usually aggressive and just had an off moment, but this is why I don't like dogs being left outside of shops regardless of how good their temperament usually is, they're still animals! One of the shop assistants was out on her break and said she owner had just "popped into the shop" so I'm assuming they weren't planning on leaving him there for long. It's just carelessness but there were kids around too y'know..

Leaving dogs tied up is always a bad idea. Where I live dogs would be stolen that way.
