Dog Raw Treat??

Post by AzzynCav Fri Sep 30 2011, 09:24

I have been looking at the various very informative posts on feeding raw, and just wondered if you can feed pups/dogs raw meat as a treat say once a week.

I would quite like to give Tia some raw meat, but i'am not sure on changing to raw completely.

Any opinions????

Cheers

I've only just recently started giving Jack a raw bone shank and he loves it. Its a treat...so I'll only give it to him once or twice a month.

If you're going to use it as a treat, make sure it isn't with any commercial food as the digestion time for each is different. And if it's a full meal, be prepared for a bout of the runs, cause he won't be used to it.

A raw bone is probably a better option, maybe a lamb neck or spine, so that the pup can crunch it without hurting his baby teeth! It might also help with teething.
