Staff or Pit? :s
Hi, I'm new to this.....I got Taz when he was 11 weeks old, he was quite tall and had really big paws for his age, I thought nothing of it, but now that he's 9 months old, the more I look at him the more I see pit. He just keeps gettin taller, now iv been told that they don't fill out untill they are 18 months - 2 years. But he's wider than my mates staffie already and he's 32 months, about 6 inches taller, with his head being about 3 inches wider..... Any1 got any ideas? Thanks

Re: Staff or Pit? :s
He don't look pit to me .. He maybe cross if his tall, but he can be crossed with any other dog .. Pit doesn't stand out to me.
Usually they grow up for the first year and out for the 2nd, but every pup grows at differant rates.

Re: Staff or Pit? :s
Urrmm not really that bothered, its just the fact that when I take him to the vet for his boosters and checkup, they may notice if he was pit and take him off me because pits are illegal in the uk. Cheers

Re: Staff or Pit? :s
You'v got a gorgeous staffy there mate. Nothing at all about him says pit.
His muzzle is staffy, so is his head (round) he got a good stance as well.
As for his size if he is as tall as you said then maybe he has some mastiff in him that would explain his size but other thing else is staffy.
If anyone asks you have yourself a staffy cross.

I know, he's gorgeous, so playful aswell. I just wanted piece of mind coz I don't want him taken away. His muscle praportion is amazing for his age too, he's solid everywhere, his head has only started splitting last month so I imagine its going to get quite a bit bigger, and I can already fit both hands between the ears. Never thought mastiff, could explain it.... Cheers

The head doesn't split the muscle(bulges) simply develope and become more prominent.
he sounds amazing and more pictures are definatly needed/wanted.

Bullies do like to use their heads for alot of things including taking your knee caps out when they swing their heads around, but as long as he isn't doing it to extent he is hurting himself? (upload a vid)lol

Re: Staff or Pit? :s
i knew he was being sold.......he has fathered so so many pups and been used as a complete breeding and money making machine i also heard he was being sold for 3k it baffles me to be honest why 1. they wouldnt neutre him before selling him so he could live the rest of his life as a loved family pet and 2. why on earth someone would pay that ridiculous amount of money for him?? Unless of course he is going to carry on being a money making machine for your friend? I feel sorry for that dog. Nothing against your friend by the way, the whole thing just baffles me!

Yes he is in Mollys pedigree.

I had heard he was being sold but dont get why anybody would want to spend that sort of money on a stud dog who has been used simpley to make the owner lots of money.
I do hope he has now found a home where he will be treated as a pet and not a money making tool.

Re: Staff or Pit? :s
he look nothing like a pit to me but if over well over the standard he may fall under type. any cross breed can be class a type but it doen't mean you have a pit
that sound made up to me

how could anyone really know if a cross breed had pit bull in it or not??
the laws seem so ridiculous!!

Re: Staff or Pit? :s
"Types" dont need pitbull in them they just need to look like them large or small.
in my opinion if you going banned pitbul then you have to ban type also, people will try to get around the ban by cross breeding number of breeds and end up with a more aggressive dog and prolly do more damage then a pit.

Re: Staff or Pit? :s
Or you could just not ban Pit Bulls and have dangerous dog laws instead... That would be a lot easier!!Steve wrote:"Types" dont need pitbull in them they just need to look like them large or small.

Re: Staff or Pit? :s
Nice dog you've got yourself there mate. It's also nice to see others from my area joining the site. I bought Billy when he was a pup and I would say Billy looks as tall as your dog. The reason these dogs look like pitbulls is because breeders cross staffies with all sorts to make them look taller and bigger. Im sure my Billy has whippet or greyhound in him becasue of his back legs. People who fight dogs try and get there dogs taller so they are better fighting dogs. The more people like you and me and normal dog lovers can own these dogs the better. It stops dog fighters getting hold of them for fighting. They are the best dogs anyone could ever own as long as they are treated and brought up right they are wonderfull. Even Pitbulls are nice dogs, just like staffies, it's the owners choice how there dog is going to act.
