Re: discharge again??
I'm really sorry Elaine, all I can suggest is going back to the vets. Its one thing after another for Jemma, why not call them and see what they say. Didn't they say if it carries on then they would have to re-open the op and see whats going on. It might now be the only option.
I wish I knew but it seems that you have now tried everything. At least have a nurse take a look, thats usually free. Xx

Re: discharge again??
i am taking her to a different vet for a second opinion. if they say she needs opening up, im gunna go back to my other vet n tell thm, as they are the 1s tht deal with the kennels i got her from.
the kennels gave me a cheque to cover the vet costs so far, so at least i have tht money to take her to a new vet. jus wanna get it sorted

Re: discharge again??
I think a second opinion is a very good idea. Maybe they can try her on different antibiotics, although its been going on so long I do fear for the worst. As you said the fees are being covered, as they should be! When is the appointment?
I really hope you get this sorted soon, its not fair on either of you Xx

Re: discharge again??
the appointment is at 12.30. this 1 wont be covered by the kennels as it is at a different vets, but i dnt care right now, jus wanna get to the bottom of the prob. as my insurance has already said they wont cover the costs due to there being a problem before the insurance was taken out, i will have to take her to the vets tht deal with the kennels if she does need to bee opened up as i cannt afford to pay for an operation!!

Re: discharge again??
hiya,
the vet took a swab to send off for a culture, to find out exactly wht kind of bacteria is causing the problem.
shes also given me 3 weeks worth of trimacare antibiotic for the mean while until the results of the swab come back
She also gave Jemma a steriod injection to control her allergy.
i was worried about the cost of all this, as the swab alone is £25, but in total she only charged me £34 which i was quite happy with.
will deffo be using her again.
now the wait begins!

Re: discharge again??
well, i will b using this vet in future, unless the culture comes back, and the only option is to have her operated on, i will be taking her back to my normal vet as they deal with the kennels, but will be ringin them up to cover the costs!!!!!!!!!!!
