Re: Puppy Jumping up.
With jumping up it's often a matter of training your friends and family as much as the puppy! Attention is rewarding - so pushing down, correcting, being talked to is all reinforcing. If they all ignore her until she relaxes (and remove their attention immediately if she starts jumping again) you should see results fairly quickly. It only takes one misbehaving friend to make it trickier, though. You can also teach a sit/stay for greetings in addition, which also comes in handy.
Re: Puppy Jumping up.
I can scan the sit/stay for greetings section from one of my books if you'd like, it's way too much to write out in full.

I'm certainly no expert, but this has worked for us and for Baxter!
On a morning when I go downstairs, I completely ignore him. I tidy up any puppy accidents (not many to be fair). I put the kettle on and make a brew. Then and only then, I grab him a treat and call him to me. Then he gets all the attention that he needs.
When visitors come I always say to them, that although it may seem a little unfair. Completely ignore Baxter, for at least 5 minutes. Then after everyone in and welcomed, they are free and he is free to have as much fun and attention as they want.
He's still only just over 8 weeks old, but he has got the message really quickly. He stays on his bed and he waits his turn!
I think the trick is just like Aniemother has written. To ensure you train your guests and family members to follow the same pattern. Baxter seems to respond and understand the routine that is now in place.

Re: Puppy Jumping up.
you must get everyone in the house and all visitors to do exactly the same. when they come in they must tell the dog to sit and only when it is sat do they pet him. when he jumps up gently push him away and say "OFF" then when he is off tell him to SIT and then pet him for being a good boy. everyone must do the same though. we do this with everyone and he is doing fine

yes it is hard to train them not to jump, as staffys just love everybody don't they.
when you are doing the training you must be consistant ... staffys are smart dogs though.. she will soon learn.

Re: Puppy Jumping up.
the advice from animother said it all pretty much. dont let friends pat or touch your dog unless you tell them as this can wreck a lot of effort you have put into the dog.when a dog jumps up on people they should put raise knee into dogs chest not hard!!!!!!!! and DOWN or whatever command you use but it will work but will take practice but not long 2-3 weeks max good luck
Re: Puppy Jumping up.
Yeah please give me the link to the greetings and sit section thanks aniemother .
