Just back from the vets :(
For the last few nights as i have been walking home from my parents, there has been fireworks going on, Taz and Cassie are scared but i have always been able to keep control of them and walk home without them panicing too much.
I'v mentioned before about Cassie having a chemical imbalance so she shakes alot, we were almost home and Cassie fell behind on the lead a bit then she was turning around in circles and falling over all the time like she couldn't control herself, smacking her head against the floor, and shaking so bad so was i from holding her head so she would stop hitting it, she finally calapsed and refused to get up so i carried and rushed her home, where i called my folks to run me down the emergency vets.
they gave her a few jabs to prevent anything happening tonight (stupid how they can not keep them in)
So now i'v got to take her to my vets tomorrow. she had worked herself up so badly about the fireworks that she went over board and had an actual seizure because it was the first time she has had one they said they were not too worried but she still needs tests done.
She's home now asleep with the others on the beanbag, I keep looking over to make sure she is breathing
it was terrifying and is something i never wish to see any of my babies do again, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy

Re: Just back from the vets :(
So sorry for you and for Cassie. My very first staffie dog had a couple of seizures and it really is frightening for us to see. But after a seizure I would pick him up and he would look at me as if to say what on earth am I doing down here and then he would be fine again not realising anything untoward had happened.
You must be upset right now and worried out of your mind, but I'm sure the Vets will be able to reassure you tomorrow. Good luck, please let us know how it goes.

Re: Just back from the vets :(
How frightning that must've been for you.
Hopefully the vets can give you an answer as to why it happened as it has'nt happened before. Hope everything goes well at the vets.

Re: Just back from the vets :(
They think then the reason why she refused to get up/couldnt is because of the smack to the head caused her to be dazed afterwards and stay confused,I hope all is well tomorrow and i will let you know.

I've only just seen this...
I feel so so sorry that you had to go through this... it must have been horrible... i'm sure she will be ok, now that you've got here under control, safe at home, with vets tomorrow to check on her and all... give Cassie a big hug from me and Mambo! ><

Re: Just back from the vets :(
She's doing fine guys. took her to the vets they give her the once over and took some blood, i'v got another appointment now for scans etc.
I'v got to keep a eye on her right eye because it is extremely bloody shot and vision isn't all that good init, the vet isn't sure whether its because she hit her head so hard (and it was on the corner of concrete steps) or whether it was lack of oxygen to the brain,
she also bit her tongue but thats not too damaged.
Other than that she is in excellent health.
Ill let you know how all the other tests go.
