Advice Needed
Hi guys, buster was trying to jump up on the worktop and he got his front two paws on it, then fell backwards and now hes limping on his back right leg
I was gonna wait and see how he is tomorrow, before taking him to the vets ?
he's putting pressure on it, but lifting it right off the ground at times.. was whimpering a bit earlier but hes fine now
any tips ? im just so worried...

Re: Advice Needed
If it's not very swollen and he doesn't seem to be in very much pain I'm sure it can wait until tomorrow. Keep us posted!
Re: Advice Needed
woody has tried to do that few times but never injured himself - just looked very ashamed that he thouight he could do it. i'd leave it until the morning and see how he is

Re: Advice Needed
We've just had Milo to the vets over the weekend after he injured his back leg, dont know how he did it. But he showed no signs of any pain or discomfort. Vet said he could have just knocked it and gave him some anti-inflammatory drugs, and completed rest.

Re: Advice Needed
The staffy is a very tough breed and has a high tolerance to pain.If he is showing signs of injury like you say then he needs to see the vet ASAP.Waiting can cause more of a problem than just getting him checked out now.It more than likely is soft tissue damage and will just need time to heal but your better safe than sorry.
This breed does not limp whine or complain unless they are truly injured.

Re: Advice Needed
I'm a bit overcautious so I would go to the vets straight away. They are very resiliant though so it should be okay to wait * long as you let him rest.

I agree with this statement. They are not one to show when they are in pain unless it is really bad. I don't mean to worry you, but I would take him in as soon as you can.

Re: Advice Needed
I'd pop him to the vet in the morning. As said, they have a high pain threshold, so if he's limping it must really hurt!

Re: Advice Needed
I remember when my girl was a little puppy and I was home alone she scrambled out my arms and fell on the floor cried and started limping couldnt put any weight at all so im phoning everyone crying and decided to get the emergency vet out so I phoned the surgery and they said to meet 2 hours at the surgery that was about 1 in the morning my puppy was fast asleep by then so woke her to drive to the vets and she was fine no limping took her to see the vet turned out to be a deadleg and I had a huge vet bill
Seriously at the next possible chance trip to the vet just to be sure

Re: Advice Needed
Took him to the vets this morning, limping about outside the vets and as soon as were in the room with the vet, BOOM no limping, juts my luck lol
But he had a feel of his leg, and yeah soft tissue damage and a bit of ligament stretch, but has alright! Got some painkiller for him and he’s putting his leg down a good bit more than what he was. I know how high a pain threshold staff's has, that’s why I was rather worried about him not putting weight on it, but yeah all is well now thanks guys!
