hiya everyone
I've got a Staffordshire bull terrier who is 3 years old, he is very obedient and we have never had a need to punish him, although he gets very excited when he meets new people and starts urinating uncontrollably, has anybody got any suggestions how to make him stop or is this natural???

looking forward to your answers Big Grin

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I would say that it's just over excitement/submissive behaviour. You could try to calm the situation by getting him to sit before greeting anyone. If he becomes excited, just turn him around & get him to sit again, once he's calm, try again. Same when you come into the room - ignore him until he's calm & then quietly greet him. He will enjoy the quiet greeting just as much as the excitable one, believe me.

Do you have any pics you can share with us?

Hi and welcome Smile Its a natural thing if he isn't trained not too, can't really add anything, patience and traning. It gets repetative but it's worth it if you can have a dry floor. Any pics Big Grin

Just wanted to add that if ignoring him completely isn't enough you can try training him to do a trick or even a sit/stay, then if he gets too excited you can start working on this behavior for him to have something else to do.

Hi and welcome.

Lola used to do this, but I would hold her until she calmed down and she wasn't wriggling about. So basically I'd give her the sit command then kneel down and hold her sides like I was going to cuddle her and just calmly but sternly tell her to calm down, then I would let her out to wee and eventually she just stopped doing it.
