Hi All new to the group we have recently introduced Crumpet to our family a 9 week old female  blue staff looking forward to reading everyone’s experiences, I have a question after we feed  her play becomes much more aggressive I was wondering if anyone else is or has experienced this and can offer any advice we are currently feeding her the same food as her breeder Harringtons as we didn’t want to disrupt her eating and she certainly seems to enjoy it could this behaviour be food/ingredient related ? Any advice would be appreciated

Hello & welcome.

I'm a little surprised by a breeder feeding Harringtons - it isn't the best out there. Is it specifically a puppy food?

Most pups get an injection of energy after eating & it may just be that. I wonder what you mean by 'aggressive' though? Do you just mean rougher, or does she become a little 'manic'?

Hi thanks for responding , I must admit it’s the 1st ive heard of Harringtons but then haven’t had a dog in some time I am looking to go for a better brand but didn’t want to just change over too quickly it is a specific puppy food.I would say manic she often mouths which is, and expected but each evening after dinner she proper bites, growling, gets really angry if picked up to take away from the situation this will last for about lasts about 30 minutes.

She sleeps in her crate very well and is happy to enter it we haven’t used it to keep her in at daytime as yet

I might be worth either feeding her in the crate or popping her in there for 10 minutes or so after a meal. That may allow the energy spike to wear off a little. In the meantime I would honestly think seriously about changing her food gradually.

Have a look at the allaboutdogfood.co.uk site - they're very good at helping sort out the good from the bad!
