Prosternum - Advice
Hi all,
I’m wondering if someone could help. My puppy seems to have a sticking out prosternum because bone / or muscle mass in the prosternum area.
Everything I seem to google comes up with pigeon chest and she hasn’t got any signs in that.
Is this common? Should I be worried?
Thanks!

As you can see I think her neck skin sits on the bone area making it look ‘ different ‘ because when she lays and sits with her head high it is not visible. Only when sitting and walking

Well, it doesn't look like 'pigeon chest' which normally shows underneath the chest (just behind the front legs). Although it doesn't look quite right, if avet isn't worried, I'd tend to go with that. Do you intend to get her spayed at any point?

Yes I thought the same.
A few people have told me their dog had the same thing and grew out of it.
I do yes

If it's still evident then, it may be worth asking them to x-ray her at the same time. Hopefully, though, it will have sorted itself out by then.

Re: Prosternum - Advice
Thank you, I have also been looking at her more in depth and when I move her skin out the way you can see the bone. So it seems to be where he neck skin hangs over the area if you see what I’m saying
Thank you for your advice

The trouble is, they all grow and change differently, so what looks a bit odd now could look perfectly normal in a month or so!
