Why do people think a 16inch 17.5kg Dog is small Empty Why do people think a 16inch 17.5kg Dog is small

I’ve had a few people say the same thing when I’m out & about with my dog & it’s such an annoying question. “Ah he’s a little one” Why do people think a 16inch 17.5kg dog looks small? there must be so many oversized that it’s made the upper limit of the standard look out of the ordinary.

Rocky is now 1year old & maturing but doesn’t seem to be putting anymore weight on so I think will probably stay around this weight?

He is stunning and looks like a great representation of the breed.
16 inch isn’t that small though  thinking

Alas, today they are looking to breed taller examples, especially if they are blue Rolling Eyes
Don’t get me wrong, blues can be lovely but there are other colours in the SBT stud book !

Perhaps people just expect SBT to be bigger, confusing them with AmStaffs and american bullys …
Everything is not the size of a labrador ! Laughing

Years ago I ran with a pure staff, a male about the same size as your guy and he was a dream to run with... my lass loved him as did I. we used to run around 5KM over gnarly terrain. he kept up with my two crosses and used to love his run. in fact i have lots of fond memories of the guys running together

What do you want us to say?

Your boy is a typical weight for a Stafford. Don't second guess people's interpretation for the Stafford. My old boy , 20 years ago was a big guy. But there were others bigger & smaller than him. The thing to remember is that ANY breed is an interpretation of a 'standard'.

Your boy, being pure bred, is a Stafford. Full stop.

Bugga the rest!

Thanks for the replies/responses he was at the vets for his jabs & they’re really pleased with his development.
He’s chipped a bit of enamel off his front tooth but the vet said it’s nothing to worry about?

He is perfect if you ask me! He is a looker.
I find here in Southern Ca. that everybody says they know what a SBT is but when pressed on their knowledge they don't know @#$%!
This is the land of 9 out of every 9 dogs is a pit mix. It started with Camp Pendleton egos that would abandon their dogs when the were deployed and I watched the pit breed drastically change from 85 till today.
There are still very few SBT'S in our area. And yours is a great representation!!!!

For the people that would like to read about the true history of the Pit in America an Author by the name of Richard Stratton wrote a few books from first person experience in the breeding .
Books are older but some of his beliefs have been completely disregarded in modern time as it seems every divorcee in So. Cal seemes the need to start a pit rescue. Anyway my bad
