Food/skin allergy making Staffy miserable
/Hi, I have a 7yr old staffy who two yrs ago was scratching herself to the point of losing hair and cutting the skin. I've cut out all dry food, which has helped and only feed a raw diet. I've also had her skin tested for allergies and scraped by the vet for mites, but the only thing that came back was an intolerance to wheat - which I found out two yrs ago.
At the same time I was diagnosed with breast cancer, which is when her itching was at its worse and I'm now wondering if the itching is a stress relief for her which she can't stop as it's now part of her routine? I know that sounds daft, but I have tried everything and even put her on Apoquel to help her have some relief from the scratching, but nothing is working. We don't walk in fields, she doesn't have any kind of grain and i cant keep her away from pollen!!!! Has anybody else had a similar thing happen with their staffy

Oh, poor girl!
It could be a stress reaction, but what was the allergy result for grass?
Is she worse when she's been for a walk? Does her fur look in good condition? What colour is your girl?

Have you tried giving her antihistamines? Does she have a lot of chicken in her raw diet, some dogs are intolerant of it! Katy gets itchy but only in summer! Is she blue by any chance?

She brindle and white and I've had her allergy tested, which came back as pollen, wood, bark and carrots, but not chicken... We dont walk with grass, its all hard pavements, but if I think about it, it started after she was spade at 4 yrs old. Would that make a difference?

Their hormones change after spaying but I don't know whether that would make her allergic afterwards Sounds like you are trying to avoid the things you know affect her, has the itching improved since avoiding those things?
We would love to see pics of her

If it's stress related you could try Pet Remedy which you can spray onto your hands & then wipe around her head, neck & front legs.

Have you tried using an inflatable collar to stop her reaching the affected area?
