Itchy neck/eye?
Last few days Lunas right side is really itchy at times. She’s loosing a lot of fur mostly from her neck/shoulder area but I assumed it’s because she’s loosing her puppy fur? She’s just 10 months now. She’s not really creatinine anywhere other than her neck/ear on the right ride and her snout/eye on the right ride aswell. She keeps rubbing that side of her face with her paw, which is making a little bald patch on that eyelid. I will attach a picture just have to get it off my phone.
I’ve inspected her for flees but she doesn’t seem to have any at all, she only got her worm dose last week so I think I can rule out parasites. She gets the spot on every 3 months aswell, last time she had it was two and a half months ago though so I have purchased a new one, will be applying it when it arrives just incase. But we also have a cat that isn’t scratching at all, flees would infest him too and surely I would be able to spot some on one of them since I checked them both? Neither of them have any bite marks or anything like that.
I have a johnsons skin-eze cream for dogs and cats, it says on it it’s for relief of symptoms of minor skin affections so I applied it twice a day like says, but it’s not making her any less itchy.
Has anyone dealt with anything similar? Is this an allergy to something? She’s not eating anything new though, the only new thing in her diet is salmon oil, I’ve started adding some to her food every few days. She’s also spending a lot more time outside in the garden so could it be some kind of a reaction over that maybe...
I’ve heard apple cider vinegar can help with things like this, cannot get it in any shop nearby at the moment :/ I have ordered it from a nutrition store online it won’t be here until next week I’d say :/

Re: Itchy neck/eye?
For apple cider vinegar, you can also find it as an equine supplement and it’s usually rather affordable (an alternative to health shop).
Have you looked in local supermarket in salad dressing area ? That’s where I find mine.
As to itchiness, it could be a plant or even insect bites (does she like to play with ants ?)
Maybe stop the salmon oil, which can also be replaced by coconut oil which is consequently easier to stock with longer shelf life
I doubt fleas too as they usually prefer warm humid areas like armpits etc, not necessarily the head and eyes.
Luna is just so pretty

Re: Itchy neck/eye?
Yeah the local supermarket has nothing of this sort I ordered some though so should be here Monday-Wednesday
She doesn’t have any bites at all though I’ve checked her skin carefully and can’t see anything anyway.. both her and the cat got the spot on for flees and tics today just incase anyway, been over two months since they got last one.
Do you think the salmon oil has something to do with it?? She has had salmon on many occasions so I don’t think she should be allergic to that. I’ll try swap for coconut oil though maybe it will help.
Today the eye has kind of flakes of dry skin on it? Just the part where the fur is falling out on the very right side of that eyelid. It’s just little bit of dry dead skin flakes. It wasn’t like this up untill now, so not sure if that means it’s getting worse or better :/ I cleaned the eye with dog eye wipes and rubbed a small bit of coconut oil on it to soothe the dry skin hopefully that helps a bit..
Could it be over the way her fur is shedding? Because I noticed that the white parts of her are shedding more(bit weird?) like around her neck and the white bits on her face are shedding a lot and I noticed especially in the morning when I pet her face a lot of tiny hairs come out (tiny because her snout hair isn’t that long). So she seems to only be scratching really in the morning when she wakes up and she goes at her face with her paws and scratches her neck.

Re: Itchy neck/eye?
I could well be a spring moulting. Keep brushing her & check for parasites while you do so. However, if it were fleas or ticks I think you would have seen them.
If the eye(s) are sore or itchy apply a cooled damp tea bag to the eye for about a minute twice a day. Tea is cooling, soothing & mildly antibiotic!

Re: Itchy neck/eye?
At this time of year, shedding is totally normal.
As long as you keep brushing as a normal daily routine, there shouldn't be a problem.

Katy sheds like that all year round she sits & I stroke her, when she gets up there is a pile of fur!

Re: Itchy neck/eye?
Thought staffies are a non shedding breed
So We’ve been to the vets today, according to the vet the store bought flee and tic treatments don’t work (all the ones like Fleatix or any that contain firpronil as main active ingredient) because a recent study has shown that parasites like mites and flees are actually building resistance to them. She didn’t see any presence of them but gave a “better” treatment. Hopefully that’s all that it was anyway.
Lesson learned, don’t buy flea and tic solutions for pets in the pet stores anymore.

Staffies do shed but they just don’t have that horrid fine undercoat that sticks everywhere.

Katy's fur sticks to everything Nifty! I'll have to buy white clothes & furnishings so I can't see them
