Re: My Bear
Hi! Bas is a beauty, isn't he?
I think it's generally accepted that staffords grow upwards until about 1 year old, and then outwards till about 2 years old.
How tall is he?
Please come & introduce yourself here....

Re: My Bear
Hello and welcome from us.
Bas is a very handsome boy
Photos can be deceiving as he doesn’t look that small on the photos. Have you managed to measure how tall he is ?
As others have said, he’ll probably start to fill outwards rather than upwards in the next months.

Re: My Bear
Hello all thankyou for a warm welcome! He is indeed thankyou here are his measurements which I took around 3 weeks ago.
Length: 27inch (bum to nose)
Neck length: 6inch
Height: 16 1/4 (middle of body)
Body thickness: 6inch across
Chest: 8 inch ( end of leg to leg sat laid down)
Front leg length: 8inch
Body around: 32inch
Head length: 7:1/2 inch (back to nose)
Head width: 5 inch (ear to ear)
Head length: 4 inch (ear to jaw)
His head is still pretty small but is getting a bit bigger. He has had a recent growth spurt. He was the dominant one in the litter and still has his nuts. I love him to bits and I couldn't ask for a better dog! I will upload a few more pictures.

Re: My Bear
Wow that's a lot of measurements!
Height we do front leg floor to shoulder
Length collar to butt
Neck where the collar lies
Chest from deepest part of chest to back
You probably tired him out with all the measuring

Re: My Bear
Lovely photos !
From your measurements and especially the height, he sounds like an up-to-height staffy. Are you not mistaking for an AmStaff which is taller at the shoulder ?
He’ll start to fill out, his body as well as his head and in a few months’s time, you’ll already see a big difference.
He really is gorgeous, I’d love to hear a little more about him and your adventures together

Re: My Bear
I wasn't too sure what to measure as it was my first time measuring a dog . Will keep those in mind as a reference thankyou. A few people owe to me think he's fully grown, I have a feeling he's gonna keep on growing so I took down some measurements.
Thankyou he does get all the attention, which suits us both as I'm not a fig fan of it . Well I'm a Gardner I'm 24 from Oxford but currently living in Torquay. He's comes to work with me when I'm working and loves to go on the beach. We often go to the woods and a few coastal paths. He's goes for a walk with the neighbor every morning which has really helped. My neighbor Dave is 77 and is able to walk 3 dogs including mine and a fully grown rottweiler. He has really helped bring him up which has been ideal and a god send. He's got a lot of energy and had a hell of a lot when he was a pup.
What's an amstaff and an up height staff? Didn't know there were different types .
I've attached a few pictures his mum is the brown bitch of the right and his brother is the grey one on the left. I've uploaded a few pics of his dad too. Which he is a sitting image of. . Where are you guys and girls based?

Ah sorry, it’s an abbreviation here for an American Staffordshire Terrier
The different types of Staffordshire Bull Terrier you will find are to describe their build and conformation proportions : bully, balanced and terrier
