Re: Introduction
Here goes.
Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life having to put our beautiful boy TJ to sleep. I'm crying my eyes out typing this.
My story starts in 1999 when we got our first staffy lovely little Buffy, a bitch, black with white chest. When we would go on holiday we would leave her with a breeder that our friend introduced us to.After a couple of years knowing her she asked if we would like to home one of her stud dogs Teddy on the understanding that she would still be able to use him. He was a beautiful looking dog white and tan so we said yes. Buffy and Ted got on great and family life with our two best friends was great too, then tragedy, we had just walked them over our local park when Ted started to get very breathless, I rushed him to the emergency vets left him there overnight with everything crossed hoping to pick him up the next day. The next day came and at around 12 mid day the vets phoned, you had better come down Ted has taken a turn for the worse. He had brain damage and was finding it hard to breath, I had to make that decision. He was only 3 years old, followed me everywhere, I was inconsolable. Two or three weeks passed and a friend of mine who lived just around the corner told me that his bitch Teds daughter had just had pups and to come and take a look, we did and we fell in love with Teds Grandson we named him TJ Teddy junior. Buffy and TJ hit it of straight away. A few years passed we moved house and at the age of around 6 TJ started to have fits on a regular basis, eventually when we found the best medication for him it was down to two weeks every fit. One particular occasion he had a fit in the conservatory and bit into some detergent that went all over the floor which made it very slippery, his back legs buckled on him. We took him to the vets who told us he had damaged his nerves in both legs, one was worse than the other. He struggled on bless him and it didn't seem to bother him.
2016 Buffy was 18 and struggling with life hadn't wagged her tail for a while, the vet said we had to make a decision, another heart ache. She had had a great life and 18 was a good age still hurt like crazy had TJ to comfort us.
2017 we moved again big garden for TJ we couldn't walk him anymore as his legs were getting worse although he managed to make it up the stairs to the grass for exercise.TJ was getting on in years now and still having regular fits and finding life a bit harder, he was still wagging his tail until dementia set in, forgetting where he was, pooing in the house etc. Spoke to my vet who I trust entirely she said you have done a great job getting him this far in life with his ailments. we had to make a decision again. Agony, he slept with us was a mummies boy and never left my wife's side. We made the decision I myself would have loved to have had him around for a little longer but I know deep down that's selfish. every time I've lost one I've had the other to comfort me until now and I'm in bits. My wife says he doesn't want any more dogs but I find I just cant live my life without the love of a staffy. Id love to see if I could trace down another dog in TJs line as he reminded me so much of my Ted. Many thanks

Re: Introduction
Hello and welcome from me and mine.
What a touching post, reliving the best and the worst moments of your staffy companionship.
I’m so sorry for your loss, your multiple losses.
I can only imagine your heartache but I hope that time will help to lessen the pain.
In the mean time, we’re all here if you need a shoulder to lean on.

Re: Introduction
Hi Steve
So sorry you're feeling so much hurt and sorrow. Each of your dogs will have felt very loved, cherished and lucky to have had you for their dad (and your wife for their mum).
I bet that's the message they would give you if they could reach out to you right now... Along with a huge thank you.
I hope your wife comes around and you both provide another dog with a precious home.
