Hi guys I came across this forum whilst looking for info online about staffys, Molly is 7 months old and such a sweet loving dog, she’s just started her first season and in abit concerned about the size of her “bits” I’ve only ever had one other dog who was a female shitzu she had a lot of hair down there and was only a small dog compared to molly and can say I never noticed her bits swell this bad !! I’m not sure what normal is but hoping someone on here can advise me that this is “normal”

Re: Newbie
Welcome to the forum from Misty and I. Molly is beautiful! We got Misty when she was 14 months and she had her second season the week we got her. Her bits were very big too. In fact we asked the vet when we got her (before she had her season) and the vet said some dogs are just bigger. We had her sprayed and since then she looks much smaller and all the swelling in that area has gone.
If you're concerned maybe call your vet to set your mind at ease. Can't wait to hear more about Molly

Re: Newbie
Hello and welcome.
Molly certainly is pretty (referring to the first photo, of course !)
My Nifty did swell more during her season but I don’t quite remember her being that swollen. Then again, as Emma says, it can vary alot between individuals.

Re: Newbie
Hi from me & Katy, she's gorgeous unfortunately as they have no hair there, their bits do show a lot more but she doesn't look any bigger than Katy did in season

Re: Newbie
Just keep an eye on her.
Some bitches do swell more than others, but if the area becomes inflamed, or if there is a nasty discharge (other than the normal season discharge) rake her to the vet.
